Sterile Surgical Systems is a medical laundry facility. We process and supply hospitals, surgical centers, and medical clinics with the required linen they need to operate daily.
We are currently seeking a candidate for our Maintenance Mechanic position to join our growing team. The Maintenance Technician aids the Senior Maintenance Engineer with repairs and routine maintenance of various machines and equipment necessary for the Laundry and Textile Industry, such as washers, driers, extractors, condensers, pumps, blowers, presses, and other laundry equipment. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work, detail-oriented, and proactive. Our company depends on reliable and efficient staff members to run 24-hour production.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Repairs and maintenance of industrial washers, driers, extractors, condensers, pumps, blowers, presses, and other industrial laundry equipment.
Operating, examining, and dismantling industrial equipment to diagnose the cause of the malfunction.
Repairs or replaces parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, on industrial equipment.
Replacing components, such as bearings, motors, and microswitches on industrial equipment.
Replaces faulty sections of pipe, valves, and fittings, using plumbing tools.
Dismantles steam traps and removes sediment.
Removes faceplates from industrial equipment to clean out dust and lint.
Replaces worn or torn aprons, roll covers, and pads on mangles.
Lubricates industrial machines and equipment, using grease guns and oilcans.
Keeps work area neat and clean; Work area must be kept free of any safety hazards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Overtime may be required to complete daily job responsibilities.
Maintain the safety and cleanliness of workstation and immediate work area.
Qualifications:
3 years of experience in a related field required.
Experienced knowledge of all industrial building systems (electrical, heating etc.) required.
Experience of, or ability to learn, the industry and machinery specific to the company is preferred.
Effective communication and time management skills.
Adaptable, forward-thinking, and organized.
Effective understanding of mechanical systems.
Ability to work both independently and in teams.
Detailed-oriented and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Pass essential training program(s) as required by the job and/or industry.
Industrial Laundry equipment knowledge is a plus
Forklift operation is a plus
Typical Physical Activity:
Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, reaching, standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Typical Environmental Conditions:
Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which include variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint, and dust.
Exposure risk – Level III: Soiled textiles come from a variety of medical facilities; These items are considered contaminated materials
