March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month—a reminder of how important screening is for early detection.

CT Colonography (Virtual Colonoscopy) is a non-invasive imaging exam that evaluates the large intestine for cancer and polyps using CT technology. It is often used for patients who have had an incomplete or failed optical colonoscopy to help complete screening of the colon.

The exam typically takes 30–60 minutes and involves gently inflating the colon with CO₂ gas so clear CT images can be obtained. While less invasive than traditional colonoscopy, any suspicious findings may still require follow-up with an optical colonoscopy.

CT Colonography is offered at TRA Gig Harbor and TRA Olympia on Lilly.

Dr. Kim joins our team as a neuroradiologist with a passion for the complexity of the brain and spine and a commitment to delivering precise, high-quality care. Known for his sharp attention to detail and ability to make critical “great catches,” he plays an essential behind-the-scenes role in guiding accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions.

Outside of work, Dr. Kim is an avid marathon runner, aspiring mountaineer, and future U.S. National Park explorer — bringing the same endurance and focus to life that he brings to radiology.
