This May, I am participating in the Hunger Walk, benefitting Emergency Food Network (EFN).

EFN is the central nonprofit food distributor for Pierce County, serving a network of more than 75 food pantries, meal sites, and shelters. In 2024, EFN saw a dramatic increase in community members seeking food assistance– their network supported more than 3 million visits, more than twice as many visits as they served in 2019. To ensure that every neighbor can access the food they need to survive and thrive, EFN needs our help.

I will be raising funds to support EFN throughout April and participating as a Vendor at the Hunger Walk event. Every dollar helps EFN distribute more than a million pounds of food each month, feeding neighbors in need all across the county.

Thank you for helping to ensure that no person goes hungry in Pierce County!

Robert @ Well Fed Nutrition

Emergency Food Network is kicking off Hunger Awareness Month with the 39th annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run! Participants will walk or run in a chip-timed 5K around Waughop Lake at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. Family-friendly activities and live music are also provided at the start/finish line.

I am often asked this type of question. The simple answer to what you should do in this case is that its individualized. I really enjoy Wendy’s perspective on this topic, where she introduces the concept of intuitive eating related to hunger. She provides some insightful questions to ask yourself to determine your best choice for addressing end of the day hunger, while still respecting your overall dietary needs.
