My entire life has been sustained by a miracle that never stops giving!
You see, I was born with a dangerous heart defect that would have cost me my life at a very young age. I had my first open open-heart surgery at 8 months old and I'm sure this was not easy for my parents, the surgeons or my baby-self. Although this was a great difficulty and challenge, the surgery was a success from which I was able to fully recover but this was not the end of the battle for my heart.
When I was 8 years old I was told that I would need to get open-heart surgery once again and I couldn't believe it but what could I do? The doctor told me that if my surgery was successful I would have to live the rest of my life on an artificial cardiac pace-maker. The day before my second surgery was to take place, I remember visiting the hospital scared and anxious. The doctor and nurses reassured me that everything was going to be fine as they showed me which hospital bed was mine and told me alittle bit about the procedure.
After the surgery I woke up to my family and loved ones surrounding me with gifts and the subtle memory of a wonderful dream. The surgery was a great success in which the incredible doctors and sergeons were able to figure out a way to repair my heart such that I wouldn't need a pace-maker and could live a normal life!
