Meet Your President Officer Brittney Anderson.

My name is Brittney Anderson, MHA, BGS, CPC, CPMA, COC, CEMC, I am the current President of the AAPC Tahlequah Chapter and I am honored to be part of such a wonderful community and organization.

Healthcare has taken me on quite the journey—from working in the Emergency Room and Urgent Care, to medical coding, to healthcare administration—and I’ve loved growing through every step along the way. I am proud to work for Cherokee Nation Health Services and strive to ensure our community is cared for. As President of the local AAPC Tahlequah Chapter, I am proud to be in my third year as an officer, supporting, growing and connecting with others in the coding community.

I have a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration with a background in allied health, business, and information systems, and am currently pursuing my Doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration. What really drives me is making a difference—whether that’s improving processes behind the scenes, providing assistance to patients in need, or helping others grow in their careers.

My journey reflects a commitment to lifelong learning, adaptability, and mentorship in the ever-evolving healthcare field.

I have a passion for making a meaningful impact and am continously learning and evolving. I am excited to see where this path continues to lead me as I keep moving forward on my journey in the healthcare field.

Meet Your Members Development Officer Shamil Glass.

I received my CPC and started coding for Cherokee Nation in 2017. I received my CPMA in 2024 and transitioned to being an Outpatient Coding Auditor. I am blessed today that I have been employed with The Cherokee Nation for 20 years and absolutely love my job!
I have served the AAPC local Tahlequah, OK Chapter as Education Officer, President, Vice President, and Member Development Officer. The connections I have made while volunteering have been lasting and meaningful.
Outside of work, I attend Bidding Creek Baptist Church where my husband of 17 years has been pastor for 15 years. We have 3 grown kids, 6 grandbabies, and 3 great-grands with one on the way! We spend our time chasing them, and two nieces and a nephew, around and spending as much time together as we can!

Meet Your Vice President Officer Amber Simon.

Proud to be a Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) and to continue growing in the medical coding field! In 2025, I had the honor of serving on the Advisory Board for Indian Capital Technology Center, supporting student success and education.

I’ve also been blessed to serve with the AAPC Tahlequah Chapter—2 years as Secretary and now as Vice President—where I’ve been able to mentor, learn, and build lasting friendships in such a supportive, family-like environment. Volunteering truly is rewarding on every level.

I’m passionate about advocating for gastroparesis awareness, presenting to local chapters, and helping lead a support group for those navigating this condition.

Life has also called me to serve as a caregiver over the past three years, first for my grandmother and now for my husband . Alongside that, I run my own personal assistant business, helping others with their daily needs.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me gardening, working on cars, traveling when I can, and spending time with my family. I’m looking forward to the next step in my coding career, where I can combine my knowledge, life experience, and passion for helping others to make a meaningful difference.

Meet Your Treasurer Officer Charlene Cornell.

I’m a Certified Professional Coding Auditor (CPC) and Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC), proudly representing the Cherokee Nation. I’m passionate about supporting our coders, providers and department with accuracy, integrity, and cultural pride. Currently studying for my Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) credential, I truly enjoy the challenges my role brings and the many opportunities to help others learn and grow.
This is my 3rd term having the privilege of serving as Treasurer for the Tahlequah AAPC chapter, where I’ve worked alongside wonderful Ladies to expand our network and provide ongoing education and support. It’s been such a rewarding experience, and I encourage anyone considering an officer role to take that step — the connections, growth, and lifelong friendships you gain make it all worthwhile.
Outside of work, I love gardening, playing golf, decorating interior spaces, and capturing moments through photography. One of my favorite joys is singing on the praise team at my church. Above all, I treasure time with family and friends — especially my two grandsons, who are my greatest joy
