Crucial information for all AP students:
Info about AP Exams:
It is time to register to take your AP exams this coming May. A reminder that these tests are for those students currently taking the AP course (not a placement test for next year’s classes). AP exams are a capstone test that covers the material taught in each AP course. Tests are scored out of 5 and most colleges will award credit for scores of 3 or higher (but you should check with institutions on their individual policies). We encourage all students who feel prepared to sign up and take the exam. While we hope students will pass – not every student does. These are very hard tests. Not passing an exam does not have a negative impact on students in relation to their post-secondary plans. NTHS does not require any student take the exam.
How much do they cost:
Costs for the AP Exams are set by the organization. TTUSD has chosen to support AP students and subsidize the exam fee for all students to $50 per test. Students that qualify for a fee waiver (most typically by qualifying for free/reduced lunch at school) also can qualify for a fee reduction to $20 per test. Information on fee waivers are found below
Standard cost per test: $50
Cost per test with fee waiver: $20
When do I take my test:
Tests are given on specific dates and times. The dates and times are listed on the registration form below as well as on the CollegeBoard’s website linked here:
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/exam-dates-and-fees
Please note – these are national test dates. NTHS does NOT offer make up or late testing with exception to school closure or natural disaster. Travel, illness, car trouble, traffic, etc. are not reasons why exams may be made up. Sports, school or otherwise sponsored, (while understandably unfortunate) are not excluded events – students will need to choose between their sport and the exam.
How to I register:
Registration is done through the below Google Form. Students must complete this form (parents may not register their children) between January 30th and March 12th at 2:30pm. Orders are placed to CollegeBoard soon after this. Any cancellations will incur a $15 per test cost and additions are not permitted. If you need to change your registration before March 12th – do so my contacting Mr. Ream directly – only submit this form once.

Other important notes and dates:
There will be a mandatory AP Pre-Administration date on Tuesday, April 23rd at 8am in the NTHS auditorium. This is where we take care of all the bubbling together that takes about 45 minutes off of each exam we give. All students must attend. Add it to your calendar. Please be on time.
AP exam scores are released online only in July via apscore.org – please keep your AP number.
If you have approved CollegeBoard SSD Accommodations and plan to use them on the AP exams – you must inform us by the ordering deadline. Please contact Mr. Ream.
If you are a senior this year – you can stop reading now. If you are not a senior – the next bit of info will be very important for AP exams and classes you may take in future years:
The process for registering and taking AP exams will be changing in the 2019-2020 school year. The largest change is the timing and registration process. There is still some info coming out, but students will be registering online (through the CollegeBoard) for the AP exams they will be taking in May of 2020 between the months of October and November 2019. So students will need to decide if they will take the exam in the early part of the Fall and be prepared to pay for those exams at that time. You need to be aware of this change and be ready to commit to taking exams in the fall vs deciding after first term. The information provided on that registration is also used to fill in your exam information so you need to ensure it is 100% accurate (we will remind you in the fall of this).
