In our office, we use Boost Whitening. Boost is an in-office teeth whitening treatment that uses a chemically activated hydrogen peroxide gel to whiten teeth quickly and effectively—without the need for a light or laser.

🦷 Immediate results - Since it’s done in-office, results are visible immediately after the treatment, with teeth typically becoming several shades lighter.

🦷 Safe, controlled environment under dental supervision

🦷 Effective for deep stains: The high concentration of hydrogen peroxide makes Boost especially effective for deep stains or more stubborn discoloration, such as that caused by coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking.

🦷 Less Sensitivity: Boost Whitening is specifically formulated with desensitizing agents (like potassium nitrate) to reduce discomfort during and after the procedure.

What type of dental cleanings do we offer?
🦷🪥

🟢 Prophylaxis Cleaning (Regular Dental Cleaning)
Purpose: Preventative cleaning for patients with generally healthy gums.
Procedure: Removes surface plaque, tartar, and stains above the gumline using scaling tools and polishing.
Frequency: Typically every 6 months.
Best for: Patients without gum disease.

🟢 Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)
Purpose: Treats gum disease (periodontitis) by cleaning deep below the gumline.
Procedure: Scaling removes plaque and tartar from deep pockets. Root planing smooths tooth roots to help gums reattach.
Requires local anesthesia and may be done over several visits.
Best for: Patients with bleeding gums, gum recession, or bone loss.

🟢 Periodontal Maintenance Cleaning
Purpose: Ongoing care after treatment for gum disease.
Procedure: Similar to a deep cleaning but done more frequently to keep gum disease under control.
Frequency: Every 3–4 months.
Best for: Patients with a history of periodontitis.

Fun fact: Your toothbrush should be replaced every 3-4 months.

Time for a new one?

🪥 Bristles wear out: Over time, the toothbrush bristles become frayed, bent, and lose their stiffness. This reduces their effectiveness in scrubbing away plaque and food particles, leaving your teeth less clean. Think of it like an old broom – the worn-out bristles just can’t sweep as well!

🪥 Bacteria build-up: Your mouth is home to millions of bacteria, and brushing transfers some of them to your toothbrush. While rinsing helps, it doesn’t eliminate all of them. Over time, these bacteria can multiply on the bristles. While it’s unlikely to make you sick if you’re healthy, it’s still a good hygiene practice to minimize this build-up.

🪥Reduced effectiveness: A worn-out toothbrush simply doesn’t clean as effectively. You might be going through the motions, but you’re not getting the same level of plaque removal as you would with a new brush.

🪥Potential for reinfection: If you’ve been sick, especially with a viral or bacterial infection, it’s wise to replace your toothbrush as soon as you start feeling better. This helps prevent reinfecting yourself with the same germs.

🦷 Think of replacing your toothbrush as a simple way to ensure you’re getting the most out of your brushing routine and keeping your mouth as healthy as possible!

Why do we need to FLOSS?

Put simply, flossing cleans between the teeth where  brushing can’t reach. Flossing is crucial for oral health because it removes plaque and food particles from between teeth.

🦷 Prevents Cavities:
Flossing helps remove plaque, a sticky film that contains bacteria, which can lead to cavities if it hardens into tartar.

🦷 Keeps Gums Healthy:
By removing plaque and food debris, flossing prevents gum inflammation (gingivitis) and periodontal disease, which can lead to gum recession and tooth loss.

🦷 Removes Food Debris:
Flossing effectively removes food particles that can get stuck between teeth, preventing bad breath and further bacterial growth.

🦷 Maintains a Healthy Smile:
Regular flossing helps maintain the natural whiteness of your teeth by preventing stains and plaque buildup.

🦷 Stimulates Gums:
Flossing stimulates the gums, promoting better blood circulation and supporting healthy gums.

🦷 Reduces the Risk of Other Health Problems:
Gum disease has been linked to an increased risk of other health problems, including heart disease and strokes

Sooo- make sure you are flossing everyday.
