It’s been a long day, but I finally carved out a moment to unbox my case of Evil Bone Water and share some of the surprises often tucked inside.

This (Zheng Gu Shui) is a traditional Chinese topical formula, hand‑crafted in the U.S. using empirical‑grade herbal ingredients. The literal translation of Zheng Gu Shui is “bone‑setting liquid,” but the name never quite stuck with Western audiences. Herbalists eventually started calling it “Evil Bone Water,” and the quirky nickname became its identity.

The Jing Butter sample in this batch has some of my favorite herbs — including shilajit — so I’m genuinely excited to see how this formula performs.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday for the Reset & Restore Vagus Nerve Workshop

Together, we explored yin yoga, breathwork, sound healing, and acupuncture to gently stimulate and support the vagus nerve.

The vagus nerve plays a central role in regulating communication between the brain and major organs—especially the heart and digestive system. As the core of the parasympathetic “rest and digest” response, it helps steady heart rate, support digestion, modulate inflammation, and influence emotional balance. When vagal function is disrupted, people may notice stress sensitivity, digestive discomfort, dizziness, voice or swallowing changes, nausea, appetite shifts, or fluctuations in heart rate and blood pressure.

More offerings are on the way, and we’re excited to share what’s coming next.

Join us at Grace Studios on Sunday, April 26th, for an acupuncture, yin yoga, and sound-healing workshop focused on the vagus nerve!

The vagus nerve is the body’s main calming pathway, guiding rest, digestion, and emotional balance.

Running from the brainstem through the throat, heart, and organs, it sends steady signals that help the body ease stress and return to calm.

This workshop weaves yin yoga, acupuncture, and sound healing to create the conditions for the vagus nerve to bring the whole system back into ease.

🌸 The 2026 Pink Moon, April's full moon, peaks on Wednesday, April 1, at 10:12 p.m. EST. It is called the pink moon because of the flowers that tend to bloom during this time, such as moss pink (phlox subulata) and cherry blossoms.

Benefits of Observing the Lunar Calendar
🌕 Stronger connection to natural cycles
It aligns daily life with the rhythms of the moon, fostering awareness of tides, seasons, and agricultural patterns.

🌕 Best time for healing treatments such as cupping and acupuncture

🌕 Cultural and spiritual continuity
Many traditions, festivals, and rituals are tied to lunar phases, helping communities preserve heritage and shared identity.

🌕 Agricultural guidance
Historically, farmers used lunar phases to time planting, harvesting, and fishing, and some still find these patterns useful today.

🌕 Mindfulness and intentionality
Tracking the moon’s phases can encourage reflection, goal‑setting, and a sense of cyclical renewal.

The Haft‑Sin table is a cherished centerpiece of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, celebrated at the Spring Equinox. It honors renewal, the return of light, and the natural balance that comes with the changing seasons. In many ways, it echoes Daoist principles—living in harmony with nature, embracing cycles of transformation, and cultivating inner balance as the world shifts around us.

At least seven symbolic items beginning with the Persian letter “S” (س) are placed on the table, each representing a wish or virtue for the year ahead:

🌱 Sabzeh (Sprouts): Renewal, growth, and the vitality of spring—aligned with Daoist ideas of life emerging from stillness
🍮 Samanu (Sweet Pudding. I used dates): Abundance and the sweetness of life
🍎 Seeb (Apple): Beauty, love, and the nourishment of the heart
🧄 Seer (Garlic): Health, protection, and the clearing of stagnant energy
🍇 Serkeh (Vinegar): Patience, wisdom, and the graceful acceptance of life’s transformations
🌺 Somāgh (Sumac): The triumph of light over darkness, reflecting the Daoist balance of yin and yang
🪙 Sekkeh (Coins): Prosperity and good fortune, a reminder of the flow of energy and resources (I used pyrite)
🌸 Sonbol (Hyacinth): Strength, vitality, and the beauty of new beginnings
🌕 Mirror: For self-reflection
📖 A Book of Wisdom: Often the Shahnameh, Hafez, or the Qur’an—symbolizing reflection, insight, and the cultivation of inner harmony

Together, these elements create a table that celebrates not only the Persian New Year but also the universal rhythm of renewal—a moment when nature, spirit, and intention come into alignment.

Serendipitously, a patient also brought me flowers. What a wonderful addition to my mini apothecary!

We owe so much of our medicinal knowledge to the Persians and Chinese. I am honored to practice medicine and share these traditions.

The Spring Equinox!

In Chinese medical theory, Spring is not just a date on the calendar; it is an energetic force that starts in February. It’s the upward surge that pushes early bulbs through cold soil, the swelling of leaf buds, the stirring of life after winter’s stillness. Flowers don’t just show up overnight! Look out for the mid-march spring blooms such as hellebores, crocuses, daffodils, magnolias, redbuds, and cherry trees.

The astronomical event of the Spring Equinox starts on March 20th at 10:46 AM. This marks the time when the sun crosses the equator directly overhead, resulting in equal day and night lengths. As we move towards summer, the days will progressively grow longer.

The Spring Equinox also marks the start of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, and the 13-day spring festival of rebirth, renewal, and community.

This year, the Spring Equinox also lands on Eid of Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast), marking the end of the Islamic lunar month of Ramadan.

I love Ramadan, but I missed sharing tea with my patients. Come have tea with me!

February 17th, 2026, arrives carrying an unusual concentration of sacred and celestial significance.

A rare “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse arcs across Antarctica, South America, and Africa. The Moon passed before the Sun just small enough to leave a blazing halo of light.

The new moon marking the start of Ramadan has been sighted. Tomorrow, Muslims around the world enter a month of fasting, prayer, and generosity—an annual return to discipline, humility, and the softening of the heart.

It is also the Chinese Lunar New Year, marking the end of the Wood Snake and the beginning of the year of the Fire Horse, and the spring festival. The last year of the Fire Horse was 1966.

For many Christians, today is Mardi Gras, the final feast before the 40‑day Lenten season of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving—a ritual of release before a period of spiritual refinement.

A solar eclipse, a new moon, a new year, and the opening of sacred seasons across multiple traditions—all converging on a single day.

A period of alignment that invites reflection, renewal, and recommitment to what is most true.

Wishing you health, wealth, clarity, peace, justice, and prosperity.

💢The Frequency of Fabric:
How What We Wear Shapes Our Qi💢

In Chinese medicine, nothing that touches the body is neutral. Every material—even fabric—carries a frequency that interacts with our Qi. Research on textile vibration shows natural fibers like linen, wool, silk, and cotton resonate at higher frequencies and support healthy thermoregulation, while synthetics register low and tend to trap heat, moisture, and chemical residues. Studies also show that certain chemicals in synthetic textiles, including PFAS and dye finishes, can absorb into the skin—especially with heat, sweat, and friction. Natural fibers contain fewer additives and breathe with the body, supporting the Lung system and the smooth flow of Wei Qi. In an overstimulated world, choosing natural fibers is a simple way to stay grounded, clear, and connected.
