Today, we’re proud to highlight Cynthia Doane, PharmD, M.H.A., Deputy Director of Pharmacy, in honor of National Pharmacist Day! 💊

With more than 16 years of service to the Choctaw Nation, Cynthia plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive safe, effective, and culturally respectful care. Beyond medications, she and her pharmacy team support patients through education, chronic disease management, preventive care, and care coordination — always advocating for patient safety and better health outcomes.

“The most rewarding part of my role is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while serving the Choctaw community,” Cynthia shared. “It allows me to contribute to long-term health outcomes, not just individual hospital stays.”

Equally important to Cynthia is mentoring and developing pharmacy staff, helping build strong, collaborative teams that deliver high-quality care every day.

Yakoke to Cynthia and all of our pharmacists for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to the health and well-being of those we serve. 💙

Symptoms of Covid, Flu and RSV are similar. It is best to see a provider as soon as you start to experience symptoms, because the treatment for each is different and early intervention is important.

Our community’s blood supply is dangerously low, and patients are counting on donors to step up.

We need everyone, regardless of blood type, to come donate.

O-type blood is especially needed because it is the most used in trauma and emergency care.

January is National Radon Action Month, a time to raise public awareness about radon, a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer. The month's goals are to encourage people to test their homes for radon, promote mitigation if high levels are detected, and educate the public on the associated health risks and prevention methods.

What is radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can seep into homes from the ground.
It is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths in non-smokers.

How to participate in National Radon Action Month:

- Test your home: The American Lung Association and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommend testing all homes for radon.

- Educate yourself and others: Learn about radon risks and encourage family, friends, and neighbors to test their homes.

- Spread the word: Share information on social media or write a letter to the editor to raise awareness.

- Hire a professional: If test results show high levels, contact a qualified radon professional for mitigation advice and services.

- Consider radon-resistant construction: If building a new home, ask about or build in radon-resistant features to prevent radon from entering.
