We have been seeing an increase in strep throat cases. Strep throat is caused by the bacteria group A streptococcus and requires treatment with antibiotics. Untreated strep throat may cause further complications. If your child has any of these symptoms call to make an appointment to get them tested!

We are so excited to see all the newborns that have joined our practice recently!! With that being said we wanted to remind everyone about the ABCs for safe sleep for newborns.

A for โ€œAloneโ€ meaning in their own sleep space. No cosleeping. No blankets, pillows, bumpers or stuffed animals. Cords for cameras should be secured and out of reach.

B for โ€œBackโ€ meaning placed on their back, not their side or stomach. Acid reflux or spitting up is not an indication to place an infant on their stomach or propped up for sleep.

C for โ€œCribโ€ meaning a firm, flat surface. Not in a swing, bouncer, car seat (when not in the car), or other device with elevation.

Other things you can do to potentially prevent SIDS:
~Room temperature 68-72F
~Have the ceiling fan on
~Sleep in the same room as baby
~No more than 2 layers of clothing for bed (sleeper and sleep sack/swaddle for example)
~Breastfeed for at least 6 months
~Use a pacifier at bedtime
~Avoid cigarette and v**e exposure
~Stay up to date on vaccines

Parents of children with all ages should consider reading this book or looking through the website. Very informative about what smart phones have done to Gen Z highlighting the increased risk of anxiety and depression in addition to taking away time for crucial physical and mental development. Overall the author recommends no smart phones until age 14 or high school aged and has very convincing points for doing so.
