Mr. Steven Ray Nichols, 57, of Riverside, passed away on October 9, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his son, AJ Nichols, and by his parents, Betty Strickland and William Nichols.

He is survived by his wife, Tericia Nichols; daughters, Shelby Stone (Mason) and Aimee Nicholson (TJ); grandchildren, Landon Stone and Trevor Nicholson; in-laws, Brenda and Phillip Watkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy Melissa White, 74, of Talladega, AL passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Reverend Jack Smith officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. White was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a proud graduate of Jacksonville State University and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Melissa was a loving and devoted mother and “Grandma”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Michael White Sr., and her parents, Byron and Evelyn Green.

Linda Gail Jenkins (Mintzie), 78, of Talladega, AL passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. There are no formal arrangements at this time.

Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Munford, AL, but a life long resident of Talladega, AL. She started out her early working years as seamstress for Palm Beach, she finished up her working years in daycare as the beloved Ms. Linda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Johnnie Mintz; brothers, Bradly Mintz and Johnny Ray Mintz; son, Robert Baird.

Mrs Jenkins is survived by her husband, Johnny Ray Jenkins; daughters, Susan Cooper and Crystal Keith; grandchildren, Payton Cooper (Abby), Madison Keith, Mallory Cooper and Jackson Keith; great grandson, Brooks Cooper; brother, Hoyt Mintz; sister, Peggy Spurling and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Theresa Luna Cook, 65, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away on October 3, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Annette and Monte Luna, and her brother, Michael Luna.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cook; sons, Kevin Cook (Kayla) and Shane Cook; grandchildren, Kelce Cook, Kayce Cook, Brantley Cook, and Jake Cook; and brother, Mark Luna.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Usrey Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Cook Springs Cemetery with Bro. Ricky Patterson officiating.

Katherine (Kay) Brown Waters, age 74, of Talladega passed away October 3, 2025. Her family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday Oct. 8, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.

Mrs. Waters was born in Spokane, Washington on August 20, 1951, and she lived most of her life in Talladega County. After graduating from Winterboro High School, she worked at Avondale Mills in Sylacauga for many years. Mrs. Waters enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband, attending estate sales with her son, and she also enjoyed riding Tennessee walking horses.

Mrs. Waters is survived by her husband, James C. Jewel H. Gibbs, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday October 3, 2025 in Anniston.

Jewel was first married to Donald Brown, who passed away early in their life together, and later to Welton L. Gibbs, who preceded her in death in 2016. Though she experienced great loss, she lived a life full of strength, kindness, and quiet devotion to her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Sam) Stinson and Vickie (Michael) Lambert, and her son, Don Brown. She was the proud grandmother of Leslie (Steven) Cruse, Kristen Duke, Brittney (Brandon) Whetstone, and Katelyn (Lyndon)Cress. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Chloey and Oliver Cruse, Garrett and Kaden Whetstone who brought her endless joy.

Mr. Campbell is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Emries Campbell, and by his brother, Phil Campbell.

He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Threatt (Austin); sons, Matthew Campbell (Justina), Caleb Campbell, and Joshua Campbell; grandchild, Asher Chaney; brother, Jason Campbell (Cathy); sister, Lisa Campbell; sister-in-law, Mary Rowe; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Ruby Jannette Hamby

Ruby Jannette Hamby, a lifelong resident of Talladega, Alabama, was born on November 22, 1950, and entered her eternal rest on September 24, 2025, at RMC Hospital in Anniston, Alabama.

Ruby dedicated much of her working life to the Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind, where she faithfully assembled supplies for the Armed Forces. She retired in 1995, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and service.

Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Ruby used her gift to glorify the Lord, sharing solos and lifting her voice in the church choir, especially during the Christmas season. She was a devoted and longtime member of the Bible Methodist Church of Talladega, where her presence and music touched many hearts.

Ruby is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Hamby O’Bryant, who was her joy and constant companion.

Her warmth, faith, and song will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Barbara Jean Brewer Perkins was born April 15, 1943, to Grady and Nora Brewer in Talladega, AL. Barbara joined her Heavenly Father September 27, 2025, whom she loved and trusted immensely.

Barbara married John Roy Perkins November 9th, 1960, and would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this coming November. Together, they built a large and loving family who loved and adored her. She is also survived by her children, Teresa Heath (Greg), Lisa Cason (Mike), Cheryl Lackey, and Christa Wesley. William Patrick “Pat” Burrell, a devoted family man, known lovingly and affectionately as “PawPaw”, a proud veteran, and lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 77. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and unwavering loyalty to his family, friends, community, and beloved Alabama.

Born on March 21, 1948, in Talladega, Alabama, Pat was the son of the late Barton and Della Burrell. He grew up in the Bemiston community of Talladega. He was a proud graduate of Talladega High School, where he excelled on the basketball court, forging lasting friendships and memories. His competitive spirit and dedication carried through every aspect of his life.
