On October 1, 2025, Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) began the last year of the organization's 2021-2026 Strategic Plan. A report and subsequent survey will be issued in 2026. K-12 buses will not run on Monday, March 31st. Alabama Industries for the Blind buses will run normal routes.

The AIDB Office of Information Technology was alerted on, January 7, 2025, that on December 28, 2024, PowerSchool, the student information system used by the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind as required by the Alabama State Department of Education, became aware of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to K-12 staff and student data.

At this time, PowerSchool has confirmed the stolen data primarily contains contact details such as names and addresses.

PowerSchool is confident that the incident is contained and has no evidence of additional malware or continued unauthorized activity in the PowerSchool system. PowerSchool does not anticipate the data being shared or made public and believes it has been deleted without any further replication or dissemination.
