Incubator math lesson time! 🐣🥚

Each of our incubators in Ag holds 28 eggs. We have two incubators, so students practiced multiplication and double-digit addition to discover:

28 + 28 = 56
2 × 28 = 56

That means we have 56 eggs growing in our incubators!

Our projected hatch date is 2/22, and we can hardly wait to see those chicks emerge. 🐥

Now for the big question…
How many eggs do YOU think will hatch out of 56?

Drop your prediction below! 👇

Mrs. Maddison and Mrs. Shelby teamed up to plan a wonderful Valentine’s Day party for our elementary department! 💕

Teachers brought ice cream, sodas, and special snacks so our students could exchange Valentine cards and enjoy time socializing with their peers. The building was filled with music, laughter, sweet treats, thoughtful gifts, and so much joy. 🍬

It was a beautiful day of friendship, fun, and making memories together. We are so proud of our students for celebrating one another so well! ❤️

Our Ag students are expanding the HKS garden by adding new raised beds!👨‍🌾 🌱

Purchasing enough soil to fill raised beds can be very expensive, so students are learning and using a sustainable method called trench composting. In traditional in-ground beds, compostable materials are buried directly into the soil to naturally break down and enrich it. ♻️

Conrad has been working hard helping fill our raised beds with corn stalks, corn cobs, straw, and vegetable scraps. As these materials decompose, they will create nutrient-rich soil while also reducing waste. 🌽🌾We are proud of our students for learning hands-on gardening skills while practicing environmental stewardship! 👏

Image Description: Conrad, a student in a blue winter jacket, works outdoors to fill a large galvanized metal raised garden bed. He is using a pitchfork to move a large bundle of dried corn stalks and organic matter from a black Gorilla Carts garden wagon into the bed. The scene takes place on a grassy area next to a school walkway under a covered pavilion on an overcast day.
