📝 Dear Self,
You were making a list of therapists for your friend (again).
📌 Top 3 with great reviews? Check.
📌 Custom text with heart emojis? Check.
📌 Meanwhile: your work file’s still buffering, you’re on coffee #3.5, and you’ve cried once (but blamed “pollen”).

Then it hits you...
Wait a minute. Maybe I’m the one who needs the list. 😅

Here’s the truth:
You can’t be the group therapist, snack bringer, and crisis coordinator without checking in on you.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, start with a deep breath...And then maybe, just maybe send that list to yourself. 💌

Not everything we feel can be explained, and not every reaction needs a cosign. Sometimes, you gotta sit at the table, lay it all out, and ask questions nobody else is ready for. 🤷🏾‍♀️

And guess what? That’s okay.
The way you process, protect, and express yourself might confuse others but that doesn’t make it invalid.

At A Blountiful Life Experience, we’re not here to police your process we’re here to honor it. Because healing isn’t about looking composed. It’s about being honest with yourself, even when it’s raw, loud, or layered.

“Trauma is not what happens to you. It is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.” – Gabor Maté

Many of us go through life on autopilot, unaware of how deeply our past experiences have shaped us. We tell ourselves, “I had everything I needed—food, clothes, a roof over my head. My childhood was fine.” But emotional and mental neglect are real, even if they’re invisible.

Maybe you were never asked how you felt. Maybe you were taught that being yourself wasn’t enough—that in order to be loved, accepted, or safe, you had to adjust, shrink, or perform. That silent message may have come from parents who didn’t even realize the weight of their words or actions. And so, without knowing it, people-pleasing and perfectionism became your survival tools.

Healing begins when you start telling your story with honesty. When you recognize that your feelings are valid. When you give yourself permission to unlearn and become. 💛

✨ Does this resonate with you? Drop a 💛 if you’re on the journey of reclaiming your authentic self.

Researchers have found that the bond between you and your therapist is likely to have a big impact on your growth. I had about five therapists until I found the one ☝️! I played no games when making a decision to allow someone to enter my life and walk 👣 this journey with me. I knew I needed to be comfortable with my therapist while gaining 🦾valuable insight about how to navigate my life and ascribe new meaning 🙌🏾 to my past experiences. I’m thankful for the clients who have chosen me to be their therapist 🤎🖤🤎
