✨ First Emotional Literacy Group at Ruediger Elementary After-School Program! ✨

We’re excited to share that SG Mental Health Counseling launched our first Emotional Literacy Small Group with 3rd-grade students in the after-school program at Ruediger Elementary School through the 21st Century Program! A special thank you to United Way of the Big Bend for supporting emotional literacy.

🧠💬 This week’s focus: Identifying Feelings

Our 3rd graders jumped right in as we explored how to recognize and name emotions in a fun, engaging, and supportive space. Through hands-on activities and group discussion, students learned:
✔️ How to identify a wide range of feelings
✔️ What emotions can look and feel like in their bodies
✔️ The importance of expressing feelings in healthy ways
✔️ “Name it to tame it” strategies to build self-awareness

🌱 Starting this work early matters. When students can identify their emotions, they’re better able to manage reactions, build friendships, and navigate challenges with confidence.

We are so proud of our students and excited to continue this journey each week in the after-school setting!
