Katie is an SLPA graduating with her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology this August. With 16 years of teaching experience, she specializes in reading intervention and language development. She’s passionate about connecting with her clients and helping them reach their goals. We’re so excited to have her on our team!

We love finding books that offer great value for our clinic (and our homes). Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins is a classic board book that supports early language development through its simple, repetitive text and rich illustrations. It encourages prediction, sequencing, and vocabulary building. Its clear narrative structure helps children grasp basic spatial concepts (“over,” “under,” and “around”), while the humorous visual story of the fox introduces opportunities for inference and discussion. Yay! We have another wonderful addition we would like to announce! Welcome, Rachel! Rachel is our newest SLPA, having received her bachelor’s degree from FSU in Human Development and Family Science. Rachel recently completed the FSU School of Communication Science and Disorders Bridge Program and is patiently waiting for her master’s acceptance. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family. Her favorite children’s book is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie! Welcome, Rachel! We are blessed to have you!

🌟 Southern Speech Co. is thrilled to have .knippel join our team! A Tallahassee native and UF grad, she brings a wealth of experience in speech-language pathology, specializing in acquired brain injuries, early intervention, and childhood language disorders. After moving around the Southeast, Brittany and her family happily returned home in 2013. When she’s not helping her clients, she’s cheering on her kids at dance and baseball or curled up with a great book. 📚 Join us in giving Brittany a warm welcome-we’re so lucky to have her!

We have been focusing on impulse control in one of our social groups! We have read My Mouth is a Volcano and learned strategies to help with interrupting from Patient Ninja. Here are four patient ninja strategies:
1. Take a deep breath to help you wait.
2. Self talk- “ Good things come to those who wait.”
3. Keep your hands busy with something.
4. Think of how your actions will affect those around you.
