The Alpha Omega is the Founding Chapter of Beta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc. We were founded in Tallahassee, FL on June 27, 2000.

On this day in 2001, we etched our name in history, becoming Beta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated—a bold, beautiful, and unapologetic force for connection, empowerment, and sisterhood. That moment wasn’t just about paperwork; it was a declaration that our voices, our stories, and our love for one another matter.

Over the years, we’ve been pioneers, not only as one of the first African American LGBT-based sororities but as trailblazers in creating a space where every woman—no matter her label or journey—can belong, thrive, and shine. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary, a sanctuary for authenticity, growth, and pride.

The first World AIDS Day took place in 1988 by the World Health Organization (WHO) providing a platform to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS and honor the lives affected by the epidemic. Over the past 36 years, there has been significant progress in addressing HIV and AIDS thanks to advancements in medical research, increased access to treatment and prevention, and a broader understanding of the virus.

There are many organizations that will transport community members to the polls like Ride to the Polls (www.powercoalition.org). Ask for assistance if you need support with hearing, language, are visually impaired or need assistance with mobility. Voting is for everyone.

Greetings! Today is a glorious day! We invite you to join us as we celebrate 24 years of service and sisterhood! Happy Founders' Day to our dear Beta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc. For 24 years we have learned, grown, connected, partnered, and supported the LGBTQIA communities and our own magnificent membership. We give love and honor to our Founders Nichole Lanier and Andrea Spencer for their dedication, leadership, and planting the seed.

Our members are a unique, divine, beautiful, diverse, intelligent, successful flock of diamonds filled flamingos!
