Black Maternal Health Week is not just a moment to observe. It’s a call to act. 📢
This week and beyond let’s acknowledge, grieve, envision, and organize. ✊🏾
Because a world where every Black mother comes home doesn’t build itself. We dream and build it together 🫶🏾

We can’t fully address mental, emotional, and physical well-being if we ignore the world you have to live in every day. You can’t self-care and breathe your way out of oppression.
Naming these systems isn’t about adopting a ‘victim mindset’ but rather, being a witness.
It’s about being a witness to personal, generational, and ancestral experiences. It’s witnessing what clients (and so many people outside the therapy room) experience every single day.
When we treat systemic struggles as personal pathology, we’re asking people to be ‘resilient’ against things that shouldn’t exist in the first place.
Naming the system is how we de-pathologize our pain and start de-constructing the structures that caused it.
Will you choose awareness, liberation, and resistance OR ignorance, silence, and complacency?

Let’s talk about our viral post dismantling the “Angry Black Woman” and “Crazy Latina” tropes. We received feedback and engagement beyond our expectations. Thank you! 💕
It’s clear that this topic has personally affected many Black, Latina, and Afro-Latina women and that the conversation needs to continue beyond a carousel.
Here are some points we want to highlight:
▪️ “Latina” and “Black” are not mutually exclusive. Black Latinas exist and there is no Latinidad without Black people.
▪️ Racism, misogyny, white supremacy, patriarchy, and xenophobia underpin systems that harm Black women, Latinas, and Afro-Latinas. Black and Brown solidarity is not about equating experiences, it’s about unifying, telling the truth, AND taking accountability for how we may participate in harm within our own communities and between our communities.
▪️ Non-Black Latinos, we must give the support we want to receive. That means calling out racist family members. That means amplifying Afro-Latino & Black voices. That means doing the internal work to unlearn prejudice towards Black people.
Join us as we champion collective liberation. Drop any topics in the comments that you’d like us to cover in future posts!⚡️

She’s not crazy. She’s not angry. She’s exhausted, hypervigilant, and done being labeled by a society that created the conditions and then blamed her for the response. 🔥
Swipe to see what Latina and Black women are actually carrying. And join us in reclaiming our power by dismantling these trope and the oppressive systems that created them. 🔥
