Mothers and Babies is an example of an evidence-based program offered by Healthy Start, designed to increase engagement in activities that enhance daily well-being, strengthen social support systems, and promote healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking to reduce stress and depressive symptoms. FHA leadership started the week off in D.C., meeting with members of the Florida Delegation to advocate for the protection and extension of vital premium assistance through the federal marketplace, the continuation of the current waiver to support Hospital at Home, the protection of the 340B discount drug program and support for Florida’s state directed payment program. A special thank you to Congressman Jared Moskowitz , U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor , Senator Ashley Moody and the offices of Senator Rick Scott , Congressman Aaron Bean , Congressman Gus Bilirakis , Congressman Vern Buchanan , Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. and Congresswoman Laurel Lee for visiting with us as we continue enhancing Florida's world-class health care system.

The federal health insurance marketplace provides 4.7 million Floridians with access to affordable care, but nearly 1.5 million are at risk of losing access and becoming uninsured if Congress does not extend enhanced premium support, which is set to expire at the end of this year. Without an extension, Floridians' premiums would increase to around $1,000, which is far beyond what they can afford. FHA President and CEO Mary Mayhew’s op-ed in the Naples Daily News underscores the importance of this enhanced premium support for Florida’s workforce. Read more >>
