Did you know that our Halloween customs have a connection to our Christian faith?

Today is All Hallows Eve. It is the day before many Christian traditions observe All Saint's Day. Hallow means Holy and on all Hallows Eve we anticipate remembering the Holy ones who have gone on to be in the presence of the living God. The custom of wearing scary costumes, especially skeletons, ghosts and zombies, arose from the idea that we can mock death because for the Christian, death has no ultimate power. Eternal life is ours in Christ Jesus

The whole concept of All Saint's Day is tied in with the Communion of the Saints. This is the belief that all of God's people, on heaven and earth, are in communion through Jesus Christ.
