The Florida Association of Community Health Centers is grateful to President Donald J. Trump and his administration for including Community Health Centers in the request for funding exceptions as the shutdown deadline approaches. This action recognizes the essential role CHCs play in delivering care to over 30 million Americans — ensuring access to health services remains uninterrupted for those who need it most. Thank you for prioritizing community health during this critical time.

On behalf of Florida's community health centers, the Florida Association of Community Health Centers sincerely thanks Congressman Gus Bilirakis for the thoughtful op-ed, "Community Health Centers Vital to Keeping Americans Healthy, Productive," published in Roll Call on September 12, 2025. This piece highlights the crucial role that community health centers play in providing high-quality, affordable care to millions of Americans—particularly in rural and underserved communities. By highlighting the impact of centers in your own district, such as Premier Community HealthCare and Langley Health Services, you made a powerful case for why health centers are indispensable to public health.

We especially appreciate the strong call for long-term, stable federal funding to ensure these centers can continue meeting the needs of nearly 34 million patients nationwide, and the 1.8 million in Florida alone. Rep Bilirakis' leadership on this issue—framing it not just as a health concern, but as a matter of economic stability and access—helps bring much-needed attention to a critical component of our healthcare system. We appreciate this continued advocacy and for community health remaining at the forefront of the national conversation.

August is National Psoriasis Awareness Month, a time to recognize psoriasis as a severe, chronic, and frequently misunderstood inflammatory skin disease. Affecting more than 8 million individuals in the United States and 125 million globally, this observance aims to increase awareness and promote greater understanding of the physical, emotional, and social impact psoriasis can have on daily life. Community Health Centers are here to support patients with education and care to help them manage symptoms and take control of their skin health.
