By highlighting the impact of centers in your own district, such as Premier Community HealthCare and Langley Health Services, you made a powerful case for why health centers are indispensable to public health.

We especially appreciate the strong call for long-term, stable federal funding to ensure these centers can continue meeting the needs of nearly 34 million patients nationwide, and the 1.8 million in Florida alone. August is recognized as the official Appendix Cancer Awareness Month to increase awareness of this rare cancer and the need for more research to discover new treatments with the hope of one day finding a cure. Appendix cancer may be rare, but for those affected, early intervention can make a significant difference. Community Health Centers are here to help with evaluations, referrals, and patient support.

By working together to raise awareness about gastroparesis, we can achieve earlier diagnoses, better treatment options, and expanded research. Community Health Centers play a vital role in providing access to specialized care and education. We encourage anyone affected by gastroparesis to reach out to their local health center for support and guidance.

August is National Psoriasis Awareness Month, a time to recognize psoriasis as a severe, chronic, and frequently misunderstood inflammatory skin disease. Affecting more than 8 million individuals in the United States and 125 million globally, this observance aims to increase awareness and promote greater understanding of the physical, emotional, and social impact psoriasis can have on daily life. Community Health Centers are here to support patients with education and care to help them manage symptoms and take control of their skin health.

During National Health Center Week, we were honored to welcome Benjamin Browning, MPA, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer with the Florida Association of Community Health Centers (FACHC), to our Little Havana Health Center.

His visit was an opportunity to showcase the vital services we provide to our community — from primary medical care to behavioral health, dental services, pharmacy, and more.

We thank FACHC for their steadfast advocacy on behalf of Florida’s community health centers and for highlighting the important role we play in advancing wellness.
