October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness Month. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, taking more than 356,000 lives each year, including over 23,000 young people under 18. It can happen without warning, which is why knowing the signs and how to respond is important. This month, we encourage everyone to take a moment to educate themselves and be prepared, because quick action can save lives. Reach out to your local Community Health Center if you are interested in learning more.

October is recognized as Eye Injury Prevention and Awareness Month, reminding us how important it is to protect our vision. Nearly half of all eye injuries usually happen in or around our homes, however, most eye injuries are preventable by wearing proper-fitting safety eyewear, handling tools and chemicals with care, and seeking medical attention if an injury occurs. Your local Community Health Center is here to support your vision needs with care and resources close to home.

Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM) is held every October to increase understanding of diagnostic medical sonography and to recognize the important role sonographers play in patient care. Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive imaging tool that helps providers monitor pregnancies, detect conditions, and support accurate diagnoses for better health outcomes. Raising awareness helps more patients understand how these tools support early detection, treatment, and overall health. Reach out to your local Community Health Center to learn more.
