"Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of the means which the God of nature has placed in our power. Three million of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which any enemy can send against us."
-- Patrick Henry at St. John's Church, Richmond at the Second Provincial Convention of the Association of Virginia [His famous "Give me liberty, or give me death" speech, March 23, 1775.
WE now have over 240 millon people in the United States, yet we are less effectively "armed in the holy cause of liberty" today than 250 years ago. WE must figure this out and reunite ourselves.
These words in Henry's speech were probably more relevant to the answer of their day than his famous line, "As for me, give me liberty , or give me death." The above words pointed to the capability, which was just as important as the motivation. Both are necessary. We need to focus on the former before dealing with the latter, if we want to "make proper use of the means which the God of nature (would) place[] in our power." Think on that, patriots.
