I hope this finds you well and that you're enjoying the crazy Tallahassee summer!

As you know, I gave up my office and regular Massage Therapy practice early this spring.
At that point, it had been determined that surgery and a long rest were required to heal my hands and arms.
Since then, I have received great care from a peripheral neurologist at Mayo Clinic who determined that surgery was, in fact, not required!
I am greatly relieved, as you can imagine.

I have decided to take my practice in a bit of a new direction, and would like to invite you to work with me again, should you wish to.
It is my intention to limit my practice to home visits.
I will see clients, on their own table, in their homes.
This offers both you, the recipient, and me, the provider, with lots of flexibility!

I will come equipped with oils, sheets and towels, and even music, should you want it.
We can work with your schedule and make a regular appointment, or schedule on an "as-needed" basis.

The prospect of purchasing a massage table may be a bit overwhelming, but high quality tables are available at extremely reasonable prices, and they fold away easily to be stored in a closet or under a bed.

Attached are links to a couple of good options, should you wish to purchase a table.

Hi, Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to inform you that, as of March 27, 2025, I will no longer be practicing Massage Therapy.

With my 60th birthday right around the corner, and 32 years of massage work under my belt, I can't deny it's been a damned good run!

Unfortunately, my ulnar nerves and aging hands need a permanent break, so much as I would love to continue this work forever, the time has come to step away.

Words will never adequately express the tremendous gratitude I feel for the opportunity to work with, and to learn from all of you who've gifted me with your time, friendship and patronage.

I can only hope that our time together over the years has brought you some comfort, relief from pain, time to heal, valuable information, and possibly a few laughs.

Please feel free to keep in touch....I'll be free for lunch most days!

My heart is full!

If you plan to continue your massage journey, and need a new therapist, PM me for referrals.

Hello and a Happy New Year!

Obviously, my "brief hiatus" from massage practice was unexpectedly prolonged for many months.
I hope that during that time, you have been well, and well cared for.

This month, I will be returning to the office with a slightly modified weekly calendar.
I will be scheduling folks on a first-come, first-scheduled basis, and hope to reserve time slots for those of you who wish to set a regular weekly, bi-weeekly or monthly session, and fill in remaining available time slots afterward.

If you wish to simply schedule massages periodically, or at a different interval, by all means let me know, and I will work with your schedule to accommodate you as well as possible.

I will be scheduling sessions, beginning Wednesday, January 18th.

If you'd like to schedule, please send an email to: Info@JenniferSwamLMT.com
or send me a text or PM

I look forward to hearing from you, and to seeing you soon!

I am writing to let you know that the surgeries for carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve displacement on my right side have been successfully completed, and those for the left have finally been scheduled.
The surgeries on my right hand and elbow are healing, and I've been working hard with PT and OT to ensure complete recovery and a return to massaging as soon as possible.

As you can imagine, the need for these surgeries has deeply impacted my projected return to work.
At this point, the recommendation is that I wait three months after my second surgery before I attempt to resume work, in order to allow for complete healing and rehabilitation.
Unfortunately, this pushes back my return to the office until the beginning of the new year.
It is my hope to begin scheduling folks in late December, for appointments beginning in January 2023.

This has been an unexpected bump in the road, and gone on for much longer than I could ever have anticipated.

I hope that you are getting the help that you need, and that when the opportunity arises, we might work together again.

Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.

Warmest best,
Jen

As it is the end of July, I am writing, as promised, to update you as to the timing of my return to the office.

My most recent visit to the neurosurgeon has prompted me to pursue both ulnar nerve and carpal tunnel decompression surgeries, to correct damage already done, prevent further damage, and hopefully prolong my ability to continue my career as a massage therapist.
The first of these surgeries will be August 8th.
Assuming a swift and uneventful recovery, I'll be able to have the second surgery 4-6 weeks later.

Unfortunately, this means a further delay of my return to work.
If all goes as well as possible, I hope to begin scheduling folks some time in October.
Of course, as I have more details, I will certainly share them.

If you need massage therapy session during my hiatus, please let me know, and I will refer you to a trusted colleague.

As ever, I thank you for your kind words, ongoing support, and deep patience.

Warmest best,
Jen

Hey Folks, wanted to update everyone, and to thank you all for
your kind emails, texts, and calls!

The pacemaker surgery in May went very well, and recovery has been smooth.

While recovering from the pacemaker surgery, I have been catching up on some other diagnostic procedures that were long overdue.
I've learned that in addition to carpal tunnel syndrome, I have pretty severe ulnar nerve entrapment in, not one, but both arms!
At this point, the treatment is conservative, simply bracing, which is an attempt to moderate the progression of damage to the nerves.
However, when diagnostics are completed around the end of July, there's a very good chance that surgery will be required to remedy the situation.

So, I will be unable to return to massaging in the near future.
I hope to return to the office in the early fall, but that will depend on whether surgery is required, how long the recovery, and whether both arms will need to be repaired.

I will share additional information as it becomes available.
My most sincere apologies for having to step away.
You have all been so very patient!

If you find yourself in need of massage treatment during my time away from the office, please let me know, and I will gladly refer you to one or more of my wonderful colleagues.

Warmest best,
Jen

Hey Folks,
I will be returning to my Massage Therapy office on Tuesday, October 5th, and am booking appointments now.
In order to ensure everyone's safety, I will only consider those who are fully vaccinated to be eligible for massage therapy sessions at this time and will require that we all wear masks for the duration of our time together in the office.
I also ask that anyone who books a session complete a new intake form, and a COVID screening questionnaire.
My life, like everyone's, has been deeply impacted by COVID, but it is my hope that we can all find our way ahead, and work together to make receiving massage therapy as safe as possible.
If you would like to reserve a regular time slot, please do so as soon as possible.
The first few weeks will be a "period of adjustment", but I will do my best to honor all of your requests.
I look forward to hearing from and seeing you very soon!

This is the notificationI'd hoped to avoid...
Given the fact that the Covid-19 numbers in Tallahassee have not dropped significantly, I have chosen to delay the opening of my office for the time being.
I've continued to follow the numbers very carefully, and to keep up with scholarly writing about the spread, risks, etc. associated with the novel coronavirus.
My best judgement is to wait until:
1) We see significant decreases in the percentage of positive cases in our area,
2) Our community has the opportunity to respond to the opening of schools and the return of university students,
3) There is follow-up information regarding the risk of aerosolized spread of the disease.

Additionally, I have a school-aged son whose school, following the CDC guidelines, decided to begin the academic year with exclusively online classes.
So, as long as he is away from school, it will be necessary for me to guide him through the process of learning from home.

The decision to delay opening my office has been a difficult one, and I do not take your health, wellbeing, or need for massage therapy lightly.
As ever, it is with your best interest at heart that I am choosing to move slowly.
My office is well stocked with cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure as safe and pleasant an experience as possible, and when I reopen, we will all follow the new protocols I've outlined previously to ensure that we are as safe as we can be.

Feel free to contact me at any time with any questions, concerns, gift certificate requests, or just to say hello!
Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
Please accept my wishes for your and your family’s good health.
I look forward to seeing you again soon.
