Yesterday, we were honored to celebrate our Calhoun County Ribbon Cutting, marking an exciting new chapter for Big Bend Hospice. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, from community leaders and partners to friends and neighbors, to help us celebrate bringing compassionate hospice care closer to home.

Your presence and support made the day truly meaningful and reflected the strong sense of community that defines Calhoun County. We are thankful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to serve this area with the same compassionate, patient centered care our families have come to trust.

We look forward to supporting patients and families in Calhoun County and walking alongside them with compassion and dignity. Thank you for being part of this special moment with us. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŽจ Meet Allison Greene!

Allison is a Florida State University student and trained Big Bend Hospice volunteer who recently shared her incredible artistic talent in a beautiful way. Allison designed and hand-painted ceiling tiles for a Hospice GIP room at Weems Memorial Hospital, giving patients something peaceful and calming to look up to during their stay.

After creating several concept illustrations, the Franklin County Advisory Council selected the final design which she completed over her Christmas break, working from her home art studio.

Beyond visual art, Allison also shares her musical talent by playing piano during Team Time Tuesdays at the Dozier House, bringing comfort and connection through music.

We are deeply grateful to Allison for so thoughtfully sharing her gifts with our patients, families, and team. Volunteers like Allison remind us how creativity and compassion can truly make a difference. ๐Ÿ’š

Hospice care often brings to mind moments at the bedside, but compassion takes many forms and lives in many places throughout our community.

Big Bend Hospice CEO Bill Wertman shares how one small storefront has become a powerful extension of our mission, offering connection, healing, and hope far beyond what many might expect.

Big Bend Hospice's Jacqueline Pruitt tells us the start of a new year is less about starting over and more about building on what already exists. ๐Ÿ’š

This reflection explores how our experiences and resilience shape the path ahead, inviting us to move forward with intention and remain grounded in the purpose behind the work we do.

As we reflect on the past year, we are deeply grateful for our community partners who help make our mission possible. Today, we extend a heartfelt thank-you to Strong Women in Heels, Inc for their continued generosity and commitment to those we serve at Big Bend Hospice.

For the past two years, Strong Women in Heels, Inc. has consistently donated protein drinks, an essential nutritional supplement for many of our patients. In 2025 alone, they contributed approximately 200 bottles to our Quincy office for patients in Gadsden County. These supplements provide nourishment, comfort, and dignity during a time when it matters most, at no cost to patients and families due to this generous donation.

Support like this plays a vital role in our ability to provide compassionate, end-of-life care and truly enhances quality of life for those we serve. We are incredibly thankful for partners who show up with both heart and action.

If your local group, church, organization, or club is looking for a meaningful way to support our community, we invite you to reach out by calling 850-878- 5310.

Mary Dyal knows firsthand the impact of Big Bend Hospice. ๐Ÿ’š

After experiencing the care and compassion our team provided during her family's hardest moments, she found purpose in giving back by volunteering at Oak Tree Treasures, where her story continues to make a difference.

For Mary and so many others, this shop isnโ€™t just about whatโ€™s on the shelves. Itโ€™s about healing, community, and honoring those weโ€™ve loved.
