As International Infection Prevention Week nears its close, we want to remind providers about FHCA's upcoming Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program (NIPP Training) on Nov. 18-20 in St. Pete. This specialized training will help equip skilled nursing centers with proper tools for surveillance, an understanding of infection control and containment practices, and how to take a proactive approach to preventing infection spread while being good stewards of antibiotics. Nursing centers are required to establish an internal risk management program, and the effectiveness of that program can help centers reduce the likelihood of costly lawsuits and citations while also minimizing medical errors and preventing incidents like falls, elopements and infections. FHCA's Introduction to Risk Management program on October 24 will equip center staff with a greater understanding of high-risk areas, including elopement, significant incidents, and accidents, and how to prevent a comment or concern from turning into a complaint.
