💜 A little update from me…

I’ve moved into a new office space! And the best part? I’m still right where you expect me to be.. just two doors down from my previous office 😊

This new space has been freshly renovated, with a little more room to breathe, connect, and care for you well. It already feels so special, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming you into it.

📍 New Address:
1280 Cedar Center Dr
Tallahassee, FL 32301

Thank you for trusting me to walk alongside you in such meaningful moments. I can’t wait to continue that in this new space. ✨

Happy World Doula Week 🤍
To every incredible doula I’ve had the honor of working alongside... thank you. Truly. You are steady hands, calm voices, and fierce advocates in some of life’s most vulnerable, powerful moments. You don’t just “support” birth… you transform it.

As a home birth midwife, I see it over and over again. When a doula is present... the entire energy of the space shifts, mothers feel safer, partners feel more confident, the room softens. And that matters more than people realize. And it’s not just a feeling... it’s backed by solid evidence.

Continuous labor support from a trained doula is associated with:
✨ Lower cesarean rates
✨ Fewer interventions (including less need for Pitocin and epidurals)
✨ Shorter labors
✨ Higher satisfaction with the birth experience

That’s powerful. That’s impact.
Doulas, you are the quiet strength in the room. The grounding presence. The ones who remind women of their power when they forget.

I see you. I value you. And I am so grateful to do this work with you. Keep showing up. The work you do matters more than words can say.

♥️ Leave your birth doula some love in the comments...

🌴 Spring Break Mode: ACTIVATED 🌴

I am officially off the clock and on vacation for Spring Break. That means I’ll be trading charting and phone calls for family time, sunshine, ocean breezes, good food, and maybe a nap or two. ☀️

If you need me while I’m away, please email me with any questions. I’ll make sure everything gets answered.

📵 Friendly reminder: no phone calls or texts while I’m away unless it’s a true emergency. My phone and I are currently in a very serious boundary-setting phase.

Thank you for letting me unplug for a bit so I can come back refreshed and ready to take great care of everyone again. See you soon! 💛

Thank you, Melissa! I truly appreciate you & the part you've played in my journey.

Babies in Common recognizes our Laura of Health and Lactation.

Grateful for the steady, compassionate support of Laura. She shows up for our families with so much wisdom, patience, and heart, and it truly makes a difference in those early postpartum days. Having a trusted, skilled lactation resource like Laura in our community is such a gift, and I’m thankful to partner with her in caring for the families we serve.

Did Laura support you in your breastfeeding journey?

📍Florida - Tallahassee and Big Bend Region

Meet Laura Dearman, IBCLC 🤍who offers full‑spectrum, holistic lactation care—from prenatal education through gentle weaning. Her work is rooted in the belief that parents are the experts on their babies, and she partners with families to support feeding in ways that feel informed, respectful, and empowering.

A mother of five, Laura brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her care. Her personal feeding journey spans full‑term breastfeeding to exclusive pumping for over 12 months with her preterm twins. She has supported birth, bonding, and infant feeding since 2010 and achieved her long‑time goal of becoming an IBCLC in 2022.

Laura specializes in holistic lactation care, fl**ge fitting and best practices for pumping, and supporting breastfeeding dyads with FPIES infants, using gentle, food‑based, whole‑family‑centered approaches. Her passion for gut health and the microbiome grew from her own family’s healing journey and now informs her thoughtful approach to lactation and early health.

Laura believes that nurturing gut health in the earliest years lays the foundation for lifelong wellness—and that providing human milk can be a powerful first step 💛

Today my youngest turns 16...✨️✨️

Sixteen years ago, she entered this world at home, in water, surrounded by family, dear friends, and an extraordinary midwifery team. And my life was forever changed. 💜

That day wasn’t just the day I met this fierce, beautiful human. It was the day I fell completely in love with home birth. I experienced firsthand what it looks like when care is rooted in trust, evidence, intuition, and deep respect for birth. I felt held (not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually) through pregnancy, birth, and the tender postpartum weeks. And something in me shifted. I knew, without question, that this was the work I was meant to do.

To my midwives and birth team: thank you. Thank you for your skill, your calm presence, your wisdom, your humor, and your unwavering belief in me. Thank you for walking alongside our family with such love and care. The midwife I am today was born alongside my daughter because of you. Layla, Christy, Alice.... thank you!

And to my girl... happy sweet sixteen! You came into this world powerfully and lovingly, and you continue to live that way every day. You are strong, compassionate, funny, and deeply yourself. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest privileges of my life (even on the days when teenage sass makes an appearance 😉).
Sixteen years of loving you. Sixteen years of gratitude. Sixteen years of loving home birth.

🎂🎂 Happy Birthday, Mariah 🎉🎉

As this year comes to a close, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. To every family who opened their home, their hearts, and their most sacred moments to me... thank you.

Being invited into your birth space is never something I take lightly. Birth is holy ground, and your trust is an honor that humbles me every single time.

This year, I had the privilege of attending over 30 births... 30+ miracles, 30+ stories, 30+ moments where heaven felt close. I witnessed strength, surrender, courage, tears, prayers, laughter, and the raw, holy power of women bringing life into the world. Each family changed me. Each baby reminded me exactly why I was called to this work.

Thank you for allowing me to walk beside you, to pray with you, to advocate for you, and to serve you in one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of your lives. Thank you for trusting my hands, my heart, and my calling.

I give all the glory to God for sustaining me, guiding me, and blessing this work beyond what I could ever imagine.

As I look ahead to 2026, I do so with expectancy, humility, and deep gratitude... ready to continue serving, learning, and answering this calling with faith and love.
I am endlessly grateful. Truly blessed. 💜

Sometimes, even with the most thoughtful preparation and attentive care, birth takes us on an unexpected path.

I’m deeply grateful for our collaborative physicians and the compassionate & skilled nurses who welcomed us with professionalism, kindness, and respect. Their teamwork ensures that both mom and baby receive exactly what they need in the moment.

It’s important to remember that a home birth is never the ultimate goal.

The goal is a healthy mom, a healthy baby, and care that honors the birthing family’s dignity and choices every step of the way.

When everyone works together with open communication and mutual respect, birth remains sacred... no matter where it happens.

Midwife Tanashia

Tanashia a Florida Licensed Midwife (LM). She realized at a very early age that her life’s calling was to be with women during pregnancy/birth. While in nursing school, Tanashia learned about midwifery and her soul stirred. For the last eighteen years, she has worked as a dedicated Labor & Delivery nurse and has honorably served hundreds of women, babies, and families. After her own healing homebirth in 2010, Tanashia recommitted herself to women & to helping them achieve the births that they desire. She founded A Sacred Moment birth doula services and joined the Tallahassee Doula Coop. With the support of her family and friends, Tanashia enrolled into midwifery school in 2013. She had the privilege of training with three local licensed midwives and attending births in a busy birth center and at home. Tanashia is committed to serving women who desire out-of-hospital birth, lowering the cesarean birth rate, and decreasing the racial disparity in maternity care.
