Thanks to Facebook's Memories feature, we can't help but be reminded of the saying, "The days are long but the years are short!" This month marks 17 YEARS that have passed since we first opened our doors at our original Mahan Oaks office, as well as 13 years of seeing patients at our current Thomaswood Drive office. Reflecting on the opening of both our first and current office, we remember WELL how excited and thankful we were to have full parking lots awaiting us and for this true blessing, we most definitely remain thankful! We look forward to years ahead serving our loyal patients and at this point honestly wish we could slow down the speed at which the years seem to be passing!

What better day than Groundhog Day to share some Tallahassee area beauty! Both as a promising sign of spring arriving as well as with the admission that much like the movie that shares the namesake of the holiday, we've made similar posts in past years. And as we've said before we feel extremely blessed to be located within such close walking distance of Dorothy Oven Park. It truly is a Tallahassee gem!

As we approach our 17th business anniversary in 2024, we can't help but count our many blessings! Each day we're able to see many wonderful and loyal patients in an office environment we love, and with a staff we firmly believe to be second to none! And on the staffing note, having now employed more than 50 area college graduates seeking clinical medical experience before attending post-graduate programs, we take GREAT pride in seeing so many now filling nursing, physician assistant, and physician roles. As we enter these final weeks of the year we wish ALL of our friends peace, joy, and happiness today and throughout the year ahead!

In our last post we spoke to opening fifteen years ago with only three employees and the blessed growth that followed. Well, we've been sitting on BIG news for several months now and are excited to finally share it! For the first time in our history, we have added another MD to the practice, Dr. Jordan Ward.

For a multitude of reasons, we are optimistic she will be a perfect fit with the practice. First and foremost, she is extremely friendly and kind-hearted and we are confident patients will love the care she provides. Furthermore, Dr. Ward and her husband, Jon, are both Bainbridge, Georgia natives with family in Tallahassee and South Georgia. Finally, Dr. Ward has a solid education, having completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, obtained her MD from the Medical College of Georgia, completed a contact dermatitis fellowship at Duke University, and then completed a 3-year dermatology residency at Augusta University.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ward to both the practice and Tallahassee!

While the past few years have been trying ones to manage for the entire medical community, we're reminded of a line from one of Bing Crosby's songs in the movie White Christmas... "When I'm worried and I can't sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep, and I fall asleep counting my blessings!" Fifteen years after opening our practice with only a staff of 3, we're blessed beyond words to have both a wonderful staff AND wonderful patients! Wishing all of our friends peace, joy, and happiness today and throughout the year ahead!

No if, and, or buts about it... social media hasn't been our primary focus over the past year and a half due to numerous unforeseen challenges brought upon by COVID-19. That shared, as we say goodbye to 2021 we can't help but count our blessings, both with extremely loyal patients keeping our schedules filled and the blessing of having a staff we firmly believe to be second to none! And on the staffing note, we wish to share that we are currently interviewing to fill a single Receptionist position, our first front-office staff opening in 4 years. Please feel free to share this post with anyone you believe might fit in well with our group. While we have already had more than 200 candidates apply, we will likely hold the position open for one more week before holding interviews and filling the position. In closing, here's wishing a blessing-filled happy AND healthy year ahead for all of our patients, staff members, and Facebook friends!

The share of blooming azaleas in front of our office feels just a bit more special this year, as we mark a full DECADE practicing at our 1355 Thomaswood Drive location! For all who've been such faithful patrons, we sincerely thank you and we truly feel blessed to serve you!

Words are honestly going to fail us in sharing just HOW THANKFUL we are for the number of kind and thoughtful reviews we received on Google over the past three days -- fourteen reviews and counting when last we looked! We truly have been overwhelmed by the response to our post on Monday. Thank you, thank you, and THANK YOU! And please know while we'll never claim to be perfect or not to have emergencies arise that cause slight delays in our daily schedule, we can promise that one of Dr. Kennedy's daily goals is to stay on schedule as much as humanly possible in order to respect the valuable time of our patients!

Over the years we've done our best to avoid flooding friends' Facebook feeds with a barrage of solicitations. We've also avoided venting over day-to-day frustrations we all deal with as humans! This shared, in recent years we've noticed our Google reviews taking an increasing number of hits for not agreeing to immediately see individuals who arrive late for scheduled appointments. So begging forgiveness, please let us vent for a moment. Our admittedly firm policy of rescheduling patients who arrive more than 10 minutes late is NOT aimed at punishing those late BUT INSTEAD TO HONOR the extremely valuable time of the vast majority of patients who arrive on time! In an era where medical practices across the country are attempting to book as many as 60 patients per provider and often double-booking in anticipation of no-call no-shows, our providers' schedules average only 18 to 20 patients so that we might spend quality time with our patients and we never intentionally double-book our schedule. The result is our patients, on average, wait under 10 minutes to be seen by one of our providers, and our patients are generally afforded true quality time with our staff. We sincerely believe that the high level of 5-star reviews we receive speaks to an appreciation for timely quality care. The unfortunate consequence is that those who arrive significantly late do not appreciate our efforts to stay on schedule, and versus being fairly judged on the actual quality of our care, we are given 1-star reviews by those late to appointments who in some cases are new patients and have yet to even meet a provider or in other cases have a history of repeatedly no-showing as well as arriving late without calling the office, showing a disregard for the valuable time of the patients scheduled to be seen immediately after their own scheduled visits. Which brings us to our request... if you highly value the quality of care you receive at our office and if you have found your wait times to be considerably lower at our office in comparison to other medical practices you visit, we would GREATLY appreciate you searching for "Pamela S. Kennedy, MD, P.A." through Google and leaving a positive review on Google!

Can't help but make our annual "We love our early springs in Tallahassee!" post when almost the entire country is in a bitterly deep freeze! All photos captured just a stone's throw from our office at Dorothy Oven Park this past week during lunchtime strolls. And yes, we've made quite a few Dorothy Oven shares in recent years, but their ability to match colorful blooms with multiple holidays spread months apart strikes us as nothing short of wizardry! We keep saying it year after year, and we mean it -- we'll put the beauty of our early Tallahassee springs up against ANY place in the world! ❤️🌹❤️

After a rather challenging year, it would be easy to merely look forward with hope to brighter days ahead, but after pausing to reflect on the the trials of 2020 we can't help but count a number of blessings. First and foremost, after twice being faced with brief closures our patients didn't hesitate to refill our schedules, a blessing we never have taken for granted. We also are extremely thankful that our staff and the families of our staff members made it through the year relatively unscathed. And as in years past, without an iota of solicitation on our part we learned the practice was again voted as one of the top two "Best of Tallahassee" dermatology practices. And finally, maybe even more so than in past years we found moments to reflect on just how much natural beauty the Big Bend region offers. Having missed making a Christmas Day share this year, we tip our hat yet again to the folks who care for nearby Dorothy Oven park. While their annual evening light shows helped brighten the holiday season, so did the gorgeous camellias growing throughout the park! So with our last post of the year, we THANK YOU, and wish everyone a blessing-filled year ahead!

Oh what a tough post to share, but one where we're happy to count YEARS of blessings versus shed tears over brief troubles. In July we said goodbye to our Physician Assistant Jessica Bussey. We could truthfully write a book singing her praises. From the day we first spoke with her we realized she was special, happy to move to Tallahassee basically sight unseen. And even when leaving us to be with her fiance who lives in her hometown of Tampa, she gave us almost a year of notice to find a new Physician Assistant and to prepare for her departure (news to soon follow on that note). EVER cheerful with a smile and a positive attitude, she made the practice a happier place to work every single day she was with us. And we'll miss her for countless other funny reasons from being the representative "crazy cat lady" among an office filled with "dog people" to LITERALLY taking a beating for us on at least one occasion (inside story but a TRUE one that thankfully makeup helped cover until she fully healed!). Please join us in wishing Jessica the VERY best in her future! The next doctor lucky enough to have her join their practice will be blessed FAR more than they likely can even realize!

We have to admit we shared this photo last year as well, but alas today is a bit more cloudy. Thankfully the crepe myrtles are putting on the exact same 4th of July firework show! Wishing all of friends a glorious Independence Day! We MUCH appreciate our freedoms aren't free and have come at a tremendous price, and we're thankful beyond measure to live in a land where we enjoy so many liberties. We pray those freedoms remain for generations to come!

Looking for a story to brighten your news feed and day? We HAVE it! Today we wish to share congratulations with one of our former Medical Assistants, DOCTOR Joe Chen on his graduation from the Florida State University College of Medicine! A first-generation college student and child of two Jamaican immigrant parents, he NEVER ONCE gave up on fulfilling his childhood dream of becoming a physician. Not only did he graduate, but he was named the OUTSTANDING GRADUATE in Family Medicine! We couldn't be any more proud of his accomplishments! We've said before we've been tremendously blessed to employ WONDERFUL college graduates seeking clinical hours as Medical Assistants and though we're bragging on Joe today, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention he's far from being alone, with many of his peers also having recently graduated. Look for additional updates on others in the near future! Until then, please help us in congratulating Joe and wishing him the best as he begins his Family Medicine residency right here in Tallahassee! 🥳🍾🎉

In response to the many calls we're receiving asking if we're open, the answer is a resounding, "YES!" This shared we wish to use this post to speak to precisely why, as well as to document steps we are taking to protect both patients and staff from Covid-19. The "why" is for two primary reasons. First, by providing dermatology care to patients who are often in general good health during visits, we are doing our part to minimize congestion at family practice, urgent care, and ER locations, while doing so in an environment likely to be a safer one for our patients. Second, we have numerous patients who require regular exams due to skin cancer histories, patients who will need prescriptions for dermatology findings, and again, by providing care we will be doing our part to help flow throughout the entire medical-care chain. We also wish to speak to steps we have implemented to minimize risks to patients. We have a solid history of minimizing wait times for patients by not overbooking, with a historical average wait time under 10 minute and we are working even harder at this time to place patients into exam rooms as quickly as possible after entering the building. Staff members are working to clean surface areas multiple times a day, magazines have been removed from the waiting room area (something most patients won't miss due to our brief wait times), screening questions and health checks are being shared with patients at the start of exams and any patients with fever or cold-like symptoms are being asked to leave immediately and to contact their primary care providers. At the start of each day we also are doing screening checks for our employees. Those who follow our page hopefully can appreciate that we try not to flood our followers' feeds with superfluous shares, but rest assured that as we move forward and deal with fluid conditions we will share any additional updates as warranted. In an effort to end on a bright note, we highly encourage our patients and friends to maintain physical and mental health by taking daily time to "unplug" and to enjoy some sunshine, solitude, and peace in the beautiful nature that surrounds us!
