KNOW THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SKIN CANCER
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, but early detection can make all the difference. Knowing what to look for can help protect your health and the health of your loved ones.
The 4 common types of skin cancer:
▫️ Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
The most common and least aggressive type. Often appears as a pearly, shiny, or pink bump that may bleed or scab.
▫️ Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
May appear as a scaly, crusted, or wart-like growth. SCC can grow deeper into the skin if left untreated.
▫️ Melanoma
The most serious form of skin cancer. Watch for changes in size, shape, or color of moles or spots. Remember the ABCDEs of melanoma detection:
✔️ Asymmetry
✔️ Border irregularity
✔️ Color variation
✔️ Diameter larger than 6mm
✔️ Evolving changes
▫️ Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC)
A rare but aggressive skin cancer that may appear as a fast-growing red, purple, or skin-colored bump.
