Honoring the pioneers who paved the way for a healthier future! 🌟 Let's celebrate the incredible contributions of Black leaders in health and wellness.

1st slide: Adah Belle Samuels Thoms was a nurse who co-founded the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses.👩🏾‍⚕️

2nd slide: Joycelyn Elders is a pediatrician and public health administrator. In 1993, she was the first African American to be appointed as the Surgeon General of the United States.👩🏽‍💼

3rd Slide: Phil is a prominent HIV/AIDS activist and founded the Black AIDS Institute in 1999. In 2010, he was appointed to President Obama’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.👨🏾‍⚕️

4th Slide: James McCune Smith became the first African American to earn a medical degree, at the University of Glasgow, after being denied admission to U.S. universities due to his race.👨🏾‍⚕️

Bond Community Health Center is hosting a second Men's Listening Session, next week, on Tuesday, August 12 for their Men's Comprehensive Health Center. Men, you are invited! Please see the enclosed link. We hope you will be able to attend. Men must register and we need a headcount for dinner (the July dinner was delicious), so please review and complete the form. And, if you have not already, please share this information with other men in the community! We need to hear your/their voice.
