Spring sports season is here, and protecting your eyes is just as important as protecting the rest of your body.

Sports like basketball, baseball and racquet sports are among the leading causes of eye injuries. Protective eyewear made with polycarbonate lenses is designed to help shield your eyes from impact while you play.

Whether you’re competing, practicing or playing recreationally, wearing the right eye protection can help reduce the risk of injury. Talk to your eye doctor about protective eyewear designed for your sport.

Sports are a great way to stay active, but they can also put your eyes at risk if proper protection isn’t used.

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, up to 90% of serious eye injuries can be prevented with protective eyewear. Sports like basketball, baseball, racquet sports and hockey are among the most common causes of sports-related eye injuries.

Protective eyewear made with polycarbonate lenses can help shield your eyes from impact while you play.

If you or your child participates in sports this spring, talk to your eye doctor about the right protective eyewear for your activity.

Your eyes can reveal early signs of:
➡️ Diabetes
➡️ Hypertension
➡️ Autoimmune conditions
➡️Neurological concerns
If your doctor asks about medications, family history or any changes since your last visit, they’re assessing your whole health, not just your eyesight.

Comprehensive care protects more than vision.

Spring allergies can make your eyes itchy, watery, and uncomfortable, but rubbing them may actually make symptoms worse. Rubbing your eyes can release more histamines and further irritate the surface of the eye.

Instead, try artificial tears, a cold compress or allergy eye drops to help soothe irritation. If seasonal allergies are affecting your eyes, your eye doctor can recommend treatments to help you stay comfortable this spring.

Make an appointment to learn more.

Spring allergies don’t just affect your nose. They can also cause itchy, watery, red or swollen eyes.

Pollen and other seasonal allergens can irritate the surface of the eye, making everyday activities uncomfortable. Rubbing your eyes may seem helpful, but can actually worsen irritation.

Artificial tears, cold compresses and allergy eye drops may help provide relief. If symptoms persist, your eye doctor can recommend treatments tailored to your needs. Make an appointment today to learn more.
