In Loving Memory of Joseph Anthony Tricaso
Joseph A. Tricaso passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 90. He lived a life as full as the family dinner table he loved to sit at—surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren, telling stories of the “good old days” and raising a glass of red wine.
Born on July 2, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, to Michael and Catherine Tricaso, Joe’s first few years of life coincided with the second half of the Great Depression, which shaped his lifelong dislike of waste and his meticulous way of keeping things in order. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 before beginning a 42-year career with Tasty Pure Foods, where he serviced grocery stores and restaurants throughout the Akron area. Joe loved his work, often saying, “If you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
In 1959, Joe married his beloved wife, Doris, and together they shared 66 years of marriage until her passing in March 2025. For 52 of those years, they lived in Tallmadge, where they were active parishioners of Our Lady of Victory Church, raised their four children, and their home became the center of countless family dinners, holiday gatherings, and celebrations. Together, Joe and Doris built a close-knit Italian family rooted in love, loyalty, and tradition.
Joe was deeply devoted to his family, never missing a football game, graduation, or birthday. He kept his basement cellar stocked like a grocery store—shelves neatly-lined and perfectly-faced with household staples and his children’s and grandchildren’s favorite snacks to grab whenever they visited.
He enjoyed going to poker nights hosted by his son and grandsons, taking day-trips to gamble at Mountaineer with his wife and grown kids, and playing in his Men’s Poker League every Monday morning. Earlier in life, he was a proud member of the “Tallmadge Racketeers,” a group of retired friends who spent hours at the rec each week doing more socializing than they did exercising. Joe was also a member of Knights of Columbus and active participant of the MSC Conversanese Italian Club for many years.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents, Michael and Catherine Tricaso; brother, Paul Tricaso; sister, Angela Zimmerman; and his compare, Joseph Cacioppo.
He is survived by his children: Kathy (Dave) Cundiff, Mary (Richard) Wright, Joseph (Kathy) Tricaso, and Lisa (Dennis Jarmatcki) Robinette; 10 grandchildren who proudly knew and loved him as "Poppie": Billy (Lindsey) Cundiff, Danny (Jamila) Cundiff, Jonny (Jessica) Cundiff, Michael Tricaso, Carina Tricaso (Blake Bogdanovich), Joey (Zion) Tricaso, Vinnie Tricaso, Katie (Troy) Shaffer, Landon Robinette, and Nicholas Robinette; and was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Mike Tricaso; brother-in-law, Sam Ferrise; sister-in-law, Madeline Didado; comare, Isabel Cacioppo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who felt like family.
The Tricaso family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Greenview Senior Living Community for the care and compassion they showed Joe and Doris in their final years. Joe will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and devotion to his family, whose lives are forever shaped by the love and traditions he and Doris built together.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 25, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, with Rev. David Durkee officiating.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Joe’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
