Cub Scout Pack 777 - Tamaqua, PA is a youth scouting group for Boys & Girls in grades K - 5th

Today our pack visited the Tamaqua Area Elementray School park & spent some time cleaning up the playgrounds before having some fun of our own!

As Cubscouts we always make sure we leave somewhere cleaner than we found it.

A scout is… THRIFTY!

Today at our open house meeting we used our resources wisely& our creativity to recycle some everyday household items (old pillows, plastic shopping bags, fabric shopping bags, & duck tape) to turn them into Sit Upons!

We had a 🚀 BLAST 🚀 this past Friday at our Space Themed Pinewood Derby! 🏎️ 👽

Thank you so much to all of the families who attended & helped pitch in to help run the event.

❄️ What would you doo-ooo-ooooo for a Klondike….Derby? ❄️

We had so much fun attending our first Cub Scout Klondike Derby as a pack today at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation! It was muddy… & cold…….. & did we mention muddy & cold? ……But it was an absolute blast!!!!!

We learned some pretty fun skills like how to use a slingshot & a compass. We learned how penguins waddle & carry eggs / rocks with their feet & even tried it for ourselfs. We made slime, beaded snowflakes, & (our absolute favorite) our very own personal catapults! We even found a few salamanders & made sure we put the safely in a tree & not in the walkways where they could have gotten stepped on.

It was a great day!

Today we had the honor of participating in Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying Ceremony at Sky View Memorial

Our Scouts and their families took time out of their busy Saturday afternoons to join the other 800+ volunteers to lay wreaths on the graves of military veterans. We had the pleasure of honering them, taking a moment to remember them & thank them for their service. We also were able to lay wreaths at the resting places of some of our scout’s family members who served in the military.

Tonights meeting was all about teamwork!

Our pack broke up into their dens to work together to build a “cage” to make sure our thanksgiving turkeys didn’t fly away. 🦃

There was only 1 rule….their cages could not be a perfect square / rectangle. 🤔

There was a lot of trial & error (and even more sticky fingers from the marshmallows) but they did a great job to get it completed!

Our turkeys are safe & we ended the night with a little party to celebrate.

Great job Cubs!

New month - new field trip!

Today our pack had an AMAZING time visiting Saks OFF 5TH’s fulfillment center in Pottsville, PA!

We learned all about the hard work that is put into every step that a product goes through from first arriving to the facility all the way through after it is purchased by a customer & shipped out to them (especially Ms. Deana because she’s already started her Christmas list….)

We especially loved the robot at the end & the big product “vending machine”!

Thank you Mr. Bux for giving us an awesome tour!

Tonight we got to visit with Citizens Fire Company #1 Tamaqua & our scouts had a blast!

Firefighters Jeff & Shane were excellent with answering all of our questions & teaching us all about their history, how their trucks & equipment works, & what they do to help keep our community safe.

Just a bunch of happy campers 🏕️

We had so much fun last night at the Tamaqua Halloween Parade !

Pack 777’s Camp Akela had campers, hikers, fisherman, Smokey the bear, a campfire, an adventure jeep & even our very own Akela the Wolf. (Aka Cannoli our scout master’s foster puppy from Husky House who is available for adoption)

After the parade the scouts were surprised with a pick you own pumpkin patch for them to pick a pumpkin for them to carve or paint for their homes.
(Thank you Bearded Goat Hollow for your donation of pumpkins!)

Special thanks to all of our Packs’s adults who volunteered the hay-wagon, decorating, walking with us, & driving the truck & Jeep.

Today we beat the heat & ventured down (well…actually up) into the No.9 Coal Mine & Museum !

We spent an hour learning all about Anthracite, the Mine, & the mining heritage of our neck of the woods of the coal region.

We had a rockin’ time this evening down at Magic 105.5 WMGH!

It was awesome to see our local radio station where we learned how radio shows are produced & we even got to go on the air with Roadkill…. TWICE!

Yesterday was the perfect day for our Cubs to let loose and just be Kids.

We visited the Tamaqua Area Elementary School for an early evening of nonstop fun.

Basketball ✅
Jumping over little streams ✅
Rolling Down The Hill ✅
Wiffleball ✅

Even the tax paying kids (aka our adults) got to join in the fun!

Today we had a fun day at the playground at Tamaqua Area Elementary School & collected all this trash before we left.

FOR ICE CREAM! 🍦

Today our Cubs had their first ”summer” meeting where we made our own “shake the bag” ice cream using science & some yummy ingredients. They even got to dye them whatever color they wanted & top with sprinkles & chocolate sauce when their ice cream was frozen.

Shout out to Dunkin' Donuts of Tamaqua for donating the ice we needed. Thank you!

Our Cubs went on their very first hike as a pack today!

Our Webelos Den leader, Mr. Bux, let us on a 1.4 mile hike through Tuscarora state park all the way to the lake!
