Perfect example of why I tell people relaxation massage has nothing to do with pressure. Ive had clients wanting firm to deep pressure during their maintenance relaxation massage.
Slow and broad strokes help shift you from your sympathetic nervous system (flight or fight) to your parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest), which is where the magic happens (your body healing/repairing itself).
Even my therapeutic sessions, where we are working on a problem, I will always use relaxation techniques to calm the nervous system to get the most out of each unique session.
