Becoming a doctor is no easy feat. Sleepless nights, rigorous study sessions and grueling clinical rotations are just some of the many factors that deter most from considering a career in the medical field.
But for Kendra Hebert, a career as a doctor had been a lifelong dream. Now a third-year medical student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Hebert aspires to be the mentor and role model she once needed when she began her medical career.
βBeing the first can feel isolating and overwhelming. But it can also feel extraordinary,β she writes.
