Jessica V. White Therapy of Tampa

Jessica V. White Therapy of Tampa Licensed therapist providing counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Welcome! My name is Jessica and I am happy you are here!

Therapy is for everyone; the one thing people say they wished they did sooner. As a duel certified therapist, I have the unique training and certification to work with individuals as well as couples and families. Working with families and couples is such a meaningful opportunity as I know our families are what we care for most in life. As a wife and mother, I understand the complications of raisin

g a family and maintaining a healthy relationship. I also understand individual challenges like stress, anger, sadness, and worry. Life is overwhelming and confusing; we do our best but sometimes we need support because we run out of ideas to make things better. We end up saying "it will get better, it will pass" but mostly life just passes, and we've spent our time SURVIVING it. I'm here to tell you, there's more! More joy, contentment, love, relief, laughter and meaning. Reach out for a free 30-minute consultation and experience a laid-back, supportive atmosphere with me as your therapist.-Jessica

Antisocial Personality Disorder: Formally psychopathy

There’s some crossover with Narcissistic Personality Disorder with differences being Narcissism can have minimal empathy (for appearances or their personal gain) and fears of abandonment.

Toxic relationships leave others in a cycle of confusion. Confusion is due to the manipulation, degrading of the victim’s self esteem, being preyed upon due to YOUR empathy, & the inconsistent “love” or “okay times” that makes you hopeful. ❤️

Look at how long you’ve been in the cycle, what’s the progress? The consequences to yourself? List all that you’ve tried? Evaluate the result?

Therapy can help clarify confusion.

Symptoms:
Ignoring right and wrong.
Telling lies to take advantage of others.
Not being sensitive to or respectful of others.
Using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or pleasure.
Having a sense of superiority and being extremely opinionated.
Having problems with the law, including criminal behavior.
Being hostile, aggressive, violent or threatening to others.
Feeling no guilt about harming others.
Doing dangerous things with no regard for the safety of self or others.
Being irresponsible and failing to fulfill work or financial responsibilities.

This includes ignoring right and wrong, lying, treating others harshly, and not caring about hurting others. Charm or wit is used to manipulate others.

Coping: Denial as a defense mechanism or a sign of a mental health disorder (Narcissism, personality disorder, depression, anxiety)

Signs:

-You refuse to talk about the problem.
-You find ways to justify your behavior.
-You blame other people or outside forces for causing the problem.
-You persist in a behavior despite negative consequences.
-You promise to address the problem in the future.
-You avoid thinking about the problem

Denial is a common defense mechanism that involves denying reality to prevent anxiety. Learn more about how being in denial can affect a person.

It is not uncommon for children who are bullied to become anxious, depressed, angry & defiant, clingy, or have su***de ideation and self harm.

Questions to ask:

How are things going with your friends?
Are kids kind and respectful to you?
Do you hear kids call other kids names or say mean things?
Have you seen any kids hurt, hit, kick, or shove someone else? Were they playing or being mean?

Has any of this ever happened to you?

Parent’s response should be listening, staying calm, not interrupting or giving advice, just calmly being a safe space.

Then, if your child is in danger, take action with contacting the school. If not, slowly make progress with supporting your child by checking in, asking 1-2 questions, listening/validation and guiding. ❤️

and environmental factors can influence bullying behaviors. To reduce meaningfully, foster an environment that supports individuals who have been bullied. Download our new infographic here: https://bit.ly/3WcCTF1

Generational Trauma is a common theme we work with as therapists. Here’s an article if you’re curious.

Trauma= “don’t trust people” or “you’re worthless” ❤️‍🩹

Both of which aren’t true & feeling and thinking this way can get better with therapy.
