In honor of Women’s History Month, here are three women I look to for inspiration. Each one broke barriers, used their voice unapologetically, and paved the way for women like me to do the same. Who are the women shaping how you think, lead, or show up? 👇 Drop their names in the comments so we can celebrate them together.

God’s story was not one-dimensional back then and it shouldn’t be today. It’s always been told through a diverse group of voices. 🙌🏽

When women lead, we’re not asking for space at the table, we’re pulling out our chairs and taking our rightful seat in a story that’s always been ours to also tell.

Acts 2:17 reminds us that His Spirit is still being poured out on all people. That means every generation, every gift, men and women alike.

Women are still praying, still reading their Bibles, still believing in Jesus. What they’re leaving is a church system that says “women are equal in Christ” on Sunday and “but not in leadership” on Monday. When the institution that tells you you’re made in God’s image also excludes you from preaching, teaching, and decision-making, the disconnect becomes impossible to ignore. This doesn’t call for deconstruction. It calls for discernment. Full article on why women are walking away in record numbers (link in bio).

Most women don’t leave church because of “one bad Sunday.” It’s the years of being talked over, labeled “rebellious,” doing the work but never being seen as worthy of a seat at the table.

It’s not Jesus treating women this way (thankfully!!) but rather man‑made church culture.

You’re allowed to walk away from hurt without feeling like you have to walk away from Him.

Some of us are not abandoning our faith but instead we’re staying, speaking the Truth, and fighting for a church that actually looks like Jesus.

How much time have you wasted asking if you’re allowed instead of trusting that you’re called? Your leadership doesn’t need permission from people uncomfortable with women in authority. It needs obedience to the God who positioned you there. If you’ve been questioning whether you belong, this article will remind you that partnership in leadership is the original design, not a modern threat. Link in bio.

Okay, okay…it’s confession time.

There are days when even as a therapist, I struggle to feel in control of my own situation. We all have moments when life throws us challenges, and it’s okay to admit that. 🤍

During these tough times, I remind myself of some essential tips that can help navigate through a challenging season:

1️⃣ Embrace Vulnerability: Acknowledging our feelings and sharing our struggles with others can be powerful in finding support and understanding.

2️⃣ Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself and remember that it’s normal to have ups and downs. Treat yourself with the same kindness you’d offer a friend.

3️⃣ Grounding Techniques: When feeling overwhelmed, grounding exercises like deep breathing or mindfulness can help bring focus back to the present moment.

4️⃣ Connect with Nature: Spending time in nature can be incredibly rejuvenating and offer a sense of peace and perspective.

5️⃣ Engage in Creative Outlets: Express yourself through art, writing, or any creative pursuit that brings you joy and helps process emotions.

6️⃣ Reach Out to Loved Ones: Don’t hesitate to lean on your support network. They care about you and will be there to lend a listening ear.

Remember, it’s okay not to have everything figured out all the time. Let’s navigate these challenging seasons together, one step at a time. We’re all in this journey of healing and growth together. 💫

As a licensed mental health counselor, I know how crucial it is to build strong relationships with respectful boundaries. 💓🚧

When speaking to our loved ones, we can say things like:

1️⃣ “I appreciate your concern, but I need some time alone right now.”

2️⃣ “Let’s discuss this sensitive topic when we’re both calm and ready to listen.”

3️⃣ “I love you, but I won’t tolerate disrespectful behavior.”

4️⃣ “It’s essential for me to prioritize self-care; I hope you understand.”

5️⃣ “I need space to process my feelings; I’ll reach out when I’m ready to talk.”

Remember, setting boundaries strengthens bonds and promotes emotional well-being. 🌟💚

“You teach people how to treat you by what you allow, what you stop, and what you reinforce.” - Tony Gaskins

“Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.” - Robert Tew

“Don’t settle for a relationship that won’t let you be yourself.” - Oprah Winfrey

“The way you treat yourself sets the standard for others.” - Sonya Friedman

I could go on and on 😂 ….but remember, it’s important to set boundaries, communicate your needs, and prioritize self-respect in order to teach others how to treat you. 🫶🏼

There are many possible reasons why someone might have an avoidant attachment style. 🛑 Some common factors include early childhood experiences, past relationships, and personality traits. People with avoidant attachment styles may struggle to form close emotional bonds, and may feel uncomfortable with intimacy or vulnerability. 😔However, therapy and self-reflection can help individuals with avoidant attachment work towards more secure and fulfilling relationships. 🩵
