When it’s all said and done, the finish line doesn’t care how many miles you ran, or how fast you got there.
It only cares that you crossed that line.
That you finished what you started.

It’s an incredible feeling of accomplishment when you set out to conquer a goal and work hard at it everyday. It’s not always easy staying in the game, life will try and derail you and fear will try to distract you, but if you knuckle down and stay the course, you will be triumphant. And the reward is crossing that finish line! And no one can ever take that away from you.

The efforts of your hard work awaits you at the finish line.

Back at it! 🏃‍♀️
Today is my first time running since coming back from Chicago. With the drop in temperature this week, it felt so good to hit the pavement and soak up the warm sunshine and cool breeze.
Got a nice 3 miles in and although I wasn’t focusing on time, I pushed my legs to work a little harder to keep a faster pace.

First mile 8:05, took a 2 min walk break, 2nd mile 8:45, took another 2 min break, then last mile was 9:10 and a final 5 mins cool down.

I’m changing things up for the next few months before I get into big cardio training again.

Sometimes you have to break things down and go slow to make the strides you know you are capable of achieving.

Finally our medal is complete 🙌 Only thing left to do is arrange the display for my mom and send it so she can seek strength in it every single day. 💪

Never let life impede on your dreams. Dig deeper into your dreams and deeper into your life and believe that anything is possible, and make it happen.

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost three weeks since I ran Chicago. It’s crazy because training for this race has literally consumed my life for two years due to chronic issues with my lower back and right leg and all the training and PT it took to prepare my body to withstand that mileage.

It’s funny I never once doubted myself through it all though, even in the beginning when I could only jog for 1 minute increments because of the pain in my leg. I just focused on what I had to do each day to get a little bit stronger and a little bit better and over time those pieces became monumental.

I always envisioned myself crossing that finish line and used the power of my ‘Why’ to get me through the tough days; the days that didn’t go well in training, the days that left me exhausted from juggling life, the days that I didn’t want to show up for.

As I stand here today reflecting on those past two years, I am very proud of myself for not giving up and seeing through a promise I made to my mom.

Just know that you have it in you too to do incredible things. Impossibilities are only made possible when you believe they are possible, so start believing in yourself and keep going.

Now to start focusing on my next lofty goal.

Reflecting on Sundays race and all that went into getting me there.

Now what to do next? Hmmm…

So Dena and I were all ready to say goodbye to Chicago yesterday, when Southwest had other plans for us. It started off by them pushing our flight back by a half hour, then another hour, then 2 hours and so on and so on. They finally came clean after 10pm to tell us they had no pilot or cabin crew to oversee the flight and that we would not be traveling.
We spent the next hour walking throughout the airport trying to find another Southwest gate that didn’t have a crowd of people a mike long to service due to the same problem as us.

We got really lucky actually and found a Southwest agent who helped get us set up for a morning flight to Sarasota. At this point it was after midnight so we booked a hotel and got an Uber to take us there for the night to rest and get some much needed sleep. It had been an exhausting day.

This morning we got up early preparing to take off for 9:00am when our phones pinged only to find out that our flight at 10am was delayed 2 hours. We were preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. Thankfully we had time to relax now so we took our time getting ready, headed downstairs for a fantastic breakfast before heading back out to Midway airport.

Thankfully this time, we got on our plane and arrived back in Sarasota for 4pm. Then we started the journey back to Tampabay. I am not long in the door.

What an adventure, but it’s sure nice to be back home! 🙌❤️
