March 2026 Community ASIST Workshop

The Su***de Prevention Training Institute is proud to announce the successful completion of our most recent Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training Workshop. This important milestone reflects not only the time and effort each participant dedicated throughout the training but also a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in powerful conversations, developed essential skills, and strengthened their ability to recognize when someone may be struggling and respond with care, confidence, and compassion. By completing this training, each individual has taken an important step toward creating safer, more supportive communities.

The Su***de Prevention Training Institute was honored to participate in the Florida Su***de Prevention Su***de Coalition’s 10th Annual Statewide Su***de Prevention Conference on February 23-25, 2026, at the Hyatt Place Tampa Wesley Chapel, Florida.

The conference brought together organizations committed to reducing the incidence of su***de in Florida. Participants included prevention advocates, su***de survivors, mental health providers, clergy, first responders, Veterans, and state and local agencies.

During the conference, Dr. T.C. Copper, Executive Director, had the opportunity to network with organizations in attendance to further the SPTI mission.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Bingo Fundraiser! Your energy, enthusiasm, and generosity made the event an incredible success. From the friendly competition to the joyful shouts of “Bingo!”, the night was filled with community spirit and memorable moments.

We’re truly grateful for every participant, volunteer, donor, and sponsor who helped make this event possible. Your contributions directly support our mission and help us continue providing meaningful programs and opportunities to our community throughout the year.

Congratulations to the Latest ASIST Participants!

The Su***de Prevention Training Institute hosted a Community Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Workshop for the Greater Tampa Bay Community. Ten new Community Partners are now equipped with the tools and confidence to have that difficult conversation with someone with thoughts of su***de.

The attendees’ commitment to fostering empathy, understanding effective intervention strategies, promoting help-seeking behaviors, and providing support to those in need is truly exemplary, resulting in 10 more individuals trained and dedicated to making a difference in someone’s life.

The Su***de Prevention Training Institute has reached a strategic milestone, offering 12 workshops in one year, with this most recent workshop marking the culmination of this achievement. The Institute has trained 350 participants since its inception.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Institute acknowledged its Board of Directors’ President, Mary Ann Yaney, for her unwavering commitment and support to the organization for the last 6 years. Mary Ann is the Board President every non-profit could ever wish for, and we are beyond thrilled that she supports SPTI!
