Happy Family Friday!
James Doyle admitted to Bayshore Pointe s/p CVA with hemiplegia to his dominant side. When he arrived, James required total care from staff for all activities of daily living and mobility. He required a mechanical lift to get in and out of his bed. This was a big life change for him considering prior to his stroke, he was completely independent with all aspects of mobility and self-care.
After 2 weeks at Tampa General Rehab and almost 4 months of extensive rehab at Bayshore Point, James was able to walk out our front doors to return home with his niece. He no longer needed help getting in and out of bed. He was speaking clearly. He was completing his self-care task with minimal help from staff. His only goal when he arrived was to be able to return home to puppy, but he accomplished so much more than that.
We had bigger goals for him, and he accomplished every one of them. James remained motivated and determined throughout his stay. With the support of his therapy team and nursing staff along with his very supportive niece, James is home enjoying watching movies with his puppy on the couch!
