Welcome to the Team, Dr. Mokhtari!!
Dr. Tara Mokhtari is a fellowship-trained head and neck and reconstructive surgeon. Her clinical interests encompass head & neck cancer, salivary tumors, skin cancers, conditions of the thyroid, robotic surgery, and microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck.

Dr. Mokhtari earned her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine prior to completing her residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. After residency, she completed a fellowship in advanced head & neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at Washington University in Saint Louis. Her research interests include studying the safety and outcomes of treatments for head & neck cancer patients.

We are delighted to announce that Victoria A. Sanchez, AuD, PhD, has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine.
Dr. Sanchez is a distinguished researcher, teacher, clinician, and leader in the field of audiology. She has made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of auditory-vestibular disorders, the impact of chemotherapy on hearing, how hearing influences overall health, and the connection between hearing loss and cognitive decline. She has published extensively in high impact journals, secured substantial extramural funding, and collaborated with renowned researchers nationally and internationally.
Dr. Sanchez has also demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, and patient care. She has been involved in various educational programs and has helped students and trainees reach their goals. She has been the Chief of the Audiology Section and Director of the Hearing and Balance Center, where she has provided exemplary care and expanded audiological services.
Dr. Sanchez is a valuable member of the audiology professional community, serving on various committees, reviewing for multiple journals, and contributing to professional organizations. She has a growing reputation and recognition in her field.

The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Julia Toman to Associate Professor in recognition of her clinical, education, and research accomplishments at the University of South Florida. Dr. Toman joined the Department in 2019 following her fellowship in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery with Dr. Ed Farrior in conjunction with the University of South Florida. Since joining the faculty, Dr. Toman has rapidly expanded the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery in which she serves as Division Chief since 2022. Under her leadership, the clinical volume has increased significantly raising the local and national reputation of the Department. She has increased the mentorship for the FPRS Fellowship and strengthen the connection of the fellowship with the University. She has been dedicated to resident education and in her time at USF there has been an expansion of case volume and educational opportunities for the resident staff.

She has been recognized as a leader in the field both a the local and the national level. She is the immediate past President of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and served on the American Board of Otolaryngology Board Examination Task Force. She has dedicated her early academic career to development of academic global surgery creating long standing bilateral collaborative exchanges focusing on education, research infrastructure development and strengthening of clinical care pathways. These efforts have created opportunities for learning, dissemination of knowledge, and career advancement for trainees from all different backgrounds and different disciplines. Congratulations to Dr. Toman on her academic achievements.
