This picture… it deserves its own post.
At the concert last night, there was a speaker sharing some of God’s word. They were having technical difficulties at that point in the night. Then, in the middle of his speech, the lights ALL WENT OUT. Carlos says “It’s ok! I don’t need the light to talk about Jesus!”
Guys… what happened next was THE COOLEST God moment. Suddenly, in a sea of 11,000 people, everyone, one by one, took their phones flashlights and shined their lights and cheered! You wouldn’t think a phone flashlight would provide enough light… but when thousands of people come together, the light is present and powerful! Don’t ever think for a moment that your light doesn’t matter.

Why did I choose to become a funeral singer? Why choose to be around sadness?
God has put this on my heart lately. We have been instructed by God to help others, to bear one another's burdens. 2 Corinthians 1:3 states "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
I have experienced tragedy. I have experienced grief. And I have experienced hope.
The very first funeral I sang at was for my sweet 5 year old nephew who passed away in 2007. God gave me the strength that day to sing the song "Held" by Natalie Grant. Since then, I have been asked by many friends and family members to perform at various funerals.
Due to my own loss experience, I am able to perform compassionately. Due to my own performance experience throughout the years, I am able to perform professionally. And due to my faith, I can provide hope.
This is why I have decided to become a funeral singer.
