If your goals sound like “I need to stop feeling anxious” or “I need to get it together,” pause for a moment.

Goals rooted in shame often lead to burnout or giving up.
Real change starts with compassion.

This year, try small, meaningful shifts—protecting your peace, setting one boundary, choosing progress over perfection. You don’t need a perfect plan. Just a starting point.

And if what feels like “lack of discipline” is really exhaustion, anxiety, or burnout, support can help. You were never meant to carry it alone. 🤍

Instead of asking, “What should I change?”
Try asking what you need more of, what you need less of, and what would support your peace.

The most powerful resolutions aren’t dramatic overhauls.
They’re small, gentle decisions you keep choosing—like progress over perfection. 💛

The end of the year isn’t always motivating.
Sometimes it brings regret, grief, anxiety, comparison, and deep exhaustion.

If that’s you—you’re not alone, and you’re not failing. You’re human. 💛

New Blog Post: A New Year, A New Start, By: Hope Shenk.

"As the year winds down, it’s hard not to reflect. Maybe you’re proud of how far you’ve come. Maybe you’re disappointed. Maybe you’re just tired.

New Year’s has a way of turning the volume up on our expectations: new goals, new habits, new you. But what if this year, the “fresh start” didn’t have to feel like pressure?"

✨ Happy New Year ✨

As we step into a new year, we want to remind you that growth doesn’t have to be rushed, healing doesn’t have to be perfect, and you don’t have to have everything figured out to move forward.

Whether this season feels hopeful, heavy, or somewhere in between, you’re allowed to start gently. Small steps still count. Support still matters. And you don’t have to walk into this year alone.

We’re grateful to be part of this community and look forward to continuing to walk alongside you with care, compassion, and hope in the year ahead. 💛

With care,
The Christian Counseling of Tampa Team

The elevator taught me the importance of presence, not just physical presence, but emotional awareness. Sometimes the most meaningful support we can offer is simply sharing space, acknowledging that we do not know what someone else is going through, and choosing compassion anyway.

Every time the doors open, new people step in, each with their own joys, anxieties, burdens, or celebrations. Some are heading up to meet a newborn baby with eyes full of hope. Others are traveling down after receiving difficult news. In those brief moments, we share a destination, even if our reasons for being there are vastly different.

Two years ago, I stood in a hospital elevator with a heart heavy from loss. My grandfather had just passed away, and as the doors shut, it felt as though time stopped. The world outside kept moving, with nurses rushing to help patients, visitors choosing floors, and people laughing softly or waiting quietly. But inside, I was suspended in grief, carrying a story no one in that elevator could see.

New Blog Post: Life in the Elevator: Reflections on Grief, Joy, and Shared Journeys; By: Hope Shenk

"Life is full of ups and downs, transitions, and unexpected stops. Sometimes we move forward with hope and excitement; other times, we are weighed down by grief or uncertainty. But no matter what floor we are headed to, we often find ourselves sharing space with others whose stories intersect with ours, even if only for a moment."

SAD is treatable-and you have options.
Light therapy, counseling (like CBT), lifestyle changes, and sometimes medication can lift the fog of seasonal depression.
You don’t have to navigate the darker months alone. 🌟💛

Why does SAD happen?
Shorter days mean less sunlight-and that can disrupt your circadian rhythm, melatonin, vitamin D levels, and mood.
Your body feels the shift, even if you try to push through. 🌥
