Hello, friends-
I thought I’d revive a weekly post I began back in 2021, I think. The days seem to blur together, and the contents of one day seem to equal a week’s worth of work. I finish my workday on Monday afternoon, and find myself saying, “Have a good weekend!” to the next person I see. They look at me quizzically and reply, “It’s only Monday!” Ever feel like that? Like you’ve done enough work in one day that it feels like a week has gone by?
Driving to appointments with students also gives me a lot of time to look at my surroundings. What’s been fun is driving around the town and seeing all the decorations adorning lawns and porches-everything from hay bales and friendly ghosts to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I love the fall season so much, I thought I’d make it a point to stop and take pictures of the communities’ weird and wild. Some are not so weird OR wild, but can be just as fun to see.
I also like to listen, correction-LOVE to listen, to audiobooks. My current listen is the new release from Brené Brown, entitled "Strong Ground.” If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Brown’s work, she is a researcher, writer, and educator from Southeast Texas. Her research on the human condition gains more and more notoriety every day. I find this audiobook so dense with material, I can visualize myself highlighting and annotating sentences in the printed book even though I don’t have it (yet). If you like her work, this is a fantastic book.
Share a photo from your neck of the woods; share a book you are reading or listening to!
In the meantime, stay safe out there and enjoy the drive! ~Brenda😍

Itinerant's Log - Cardate - 9.18.2025
Hi friends - One thing I love about being an itinerant teacher is driving. I see so many sights during the long drives between rural towns. Each community has it's own brand of "Unique." This is one sign of Brownwood's uniqueness I caught during a drive last May. What have you seen that made you smile or chuckle along your drive? Post it!

Meanwhile, stay safe out there and enjoy the drive! ~Brenda
