If filler made your under-eye area look worse, there may be a reason.

Fillers add volume. But eye bags and festoons are not caused by volume loss. So when swelling is already the issue, filler can sometimes make the area look even puffier.

Eye bags form just below the lower eyelid when fat pads push forward with age. Festoons sit lower on the upper cheek and are made up of swollen skin, muscle, and fluid. These are different problems and they require the right diagnosis.

That is why many patients come in frustrated after filler, saying they look worse, not better.

If filler has already been placed, the first step is often dissolving it before moving forward with surgery.
