Why You Probably Won’t Find Festoons Treatment Locally

Searching locally for someone to treat festoons can be frustrating because festoons are often misdiagnosed as eye bags.

But they are not the same.

Eye bags form just beneath the lower eyelid when fat pads push forward with age. Festoons form lower on the upper cheek and involve swollen skin, muscle, and fluid.

That is why lower eyelid surgery may remove eye bags, but it does not remove festoons, also known as malar bags.

Face roller. Micro-needling patches. They feel good, but they don’t fix under-eye puffiness.

Many fads on social media may feel good, but they don’t solve the real problem.

Under-eye swelling is not always tired eyes. It can be eye bags, malar bags, or both, and malar bags are often misdiagnosed.

Surface tricks do not create lasting change because puffiness does not start on the surface. It forms deeper below the skin, where fluid can pool and the supporting tissue gradually loses firmness. That is also why most eye creams fall short. Creams hydrate, but they do not fix the underlying cause.
