BayCare is expanding access to high-quality urgent care for families across West Central Florida by welcoming patients as young as 6 months old.

Leading this effort is Danielle Palmieri, a physician assistant who works at several BayCare Urgent Care sites. With 27 years of experience, including clinical emergency medicine at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital, Danielle brings a wealth of expertise and compassion to every patient she sees.

“Expanding access to care for some of our youngest patients is a priority for BayCare,” said Dr. Chris Bucciarelli, vice president of ambulatory services and chief medical officer."

Last week, the Philanthropic Women of St. Joseph’s gathered for their annual celebration reception to learn how their 2025 grant, “Women of All Ages,” is transforming patient care and improving lives.

Dr. Carmen Peden, Board Certified OB/GYN at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, shared updates on the grant’s impact, including the addition of the Victoria S2200, the world’s most lifelike birthing simulator. Guests also heard inspiring remarks from Kimberly Guy, BayCare’s Chief Operating Officer, and Donna Jordan, Co-Founder of Philanthropic Women of St. Joseph’s.

We are proud to announce that the Pagidipati family will be named Philanthropist of the Year by the AFP Tampa Bay Chapter at the 36th annual National Philanthropy Day Awards.

For Johana Hernandez, St. Joseph's Hospital has always been more than a workplace, it’s been part of her life’s journey. From greeting patients as a college receptionist to serving as a hospice marketing representative, her compassion has touched countless lives in our community.

When Johana was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, she turned to the place she trusted most, St. Joseph's Women's Hospital. Under the care of Dr. Robert Gabordi and Dr. Yasmeen Hashimie, Johana found not only expert medical care but also hope and strength.

Through months of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and recovery, Johana felt surrounded by compassion, from her devoted husband and family to every nurse, coordinator, and physician who cared for her. In January, she received the words she had been praying for: she was cancer-free.

Today, Johana shares her story to inspire others during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reminding us all of the power of hope, faith, and exceptional care.

When Danielle learned her baby, Salvatore, had hypoplastic left heart syndrome, her world changed in an instant. But thanks to the expert care and compassion of the teams at St. Joseph’s Women’s and Children’s Hospitals, she found the strength to look forward and hope for her son’s future.

Today, Salvatore is a joyful, energetic boy who loves Spiderman, swimming, and playing with his siblings.

St. Joseph's Hospital has earned recertification from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for its Structural Heart and Valve Program, recognizing their ongoing commitment to top-tier patient care and safety!

The multi-disciplinary team of cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, and interventional cardiologists continues to deliver outstanding outcomes for patients undergoing transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures.

Since its inception, the program has completed more than 1,500 transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures, pioneering advancements that help more patients receive life-changing care. Congratulations to the dedicated Heart and Valve team for this well-deserved recognition.

Our Annual St. Joseph’s Golf Classic was a hole-in-one! ⛳💙

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the course in support of St. Joseph's Hospital. Together with your support, we raised a record-breaking $245,000 to benefit St. Joseph’s Hospital and the purchase of a new tool called The Cirq. This tool is a robotic arm that helps doctors perform brain surgeries more safely and accurately, especially for patients with epilepsy.

The halls at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital were full of spooky fun and happy hearts this week! 👻🧡

Thanks to the incredible team at Spirit of Children, our Hospitalized kids and their siblings got to select their Halloween costumes in a shop made especially for them. It was a spooktacular celebration filled with costumes, crafts, treats, and big smiles.

Beyond the fun, Spirit of Children’s continued generosity helps our Child Life Department provide comforting, therapeutic, and educational experiences that make hospital stays a little brighter and a lot less scary for kids and their families.

Meet the Foundation Team: Jillian Lockhart

Born and raised right here in Tampa, Jill joined the St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation a little over six months ago, and in that short time, she’s already made a big impact!

When asked what inspired her to join the Foundation, she shared:
“Working at the Foundation gives me a front row seat to see the impact that the generosity of our community is making. It’s been even more rewarding than I expected as I get to hear more and more stories of gratitude from patients and their families.”

One of her favorite moments? Leading monthly lobby activities at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, where even a simple craft can spark big smiles and brighten a child’s day.

Outside of work, Jill hopes to keep exploring the world, with Thailand and Portugal at the top of her travel bucket list! We’re so grateful to have you on our team, Jill!
