Art has a powerful way of bringing comfort, connection, and hope, and we’re proud to share a new partnership that’s doing just that at St. Joseph's Hospital - North. 🎨💙

The 4 West inpatient floor and Infusion Center were both looking for visual enhancements to create a more engaging, uplifting experience for patients, visitors, and team members. St. Joseph's Hospital-North partnered with arts leadership at Hillsborough County Public Schools, to bring talented students artwork from Tampa’s Blake High School and Lutz’s Steinbrenner High School to create a stunning gallery. The frames were even designed to allow new pieces to rotate each year, and a book nearby shares each student’s statement and inspiration behind their work.

A heartfelt thank you to these incredible young artists for helping make the hospital spaces feel a little brighter.

“The gratitude of our patients is something that drives us every day.” For Dr. Jeremy Ringewald, pediatric interventional cardiologist at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, caring for children with complex heart conditions isn’t just a profession, it’s a calling.

Having performed more than 6,000 heart catheterizations, he’s witnessed countless moments of relief, hope and healing. While the work can be stressful and the diseases can be challenging, it’s the simple “thank you for making me feel better” that stays with him.

That gratitude fuels his purpose and reminds him why he chose this path. We are so grateful for physicians like Dr. Ringewald, whose skill, compassion and dedication make a life-changing difference for the families we serve every day.

Jessica and Eric still remember the joy of learning they were expecting. Then, at their 11-week ultrasound, when a high-risk appointment revealed their baby had a heart defect, things immediately changed.

They were told their son, Jordan, would need heart surgery within days of being born. After arriving, Jordan was taken straight to the NICU. Six days later, he underwent heart-repair surgery and was finally cleared to go home.

Jordan's parents credit the care team at St. Joseph’s for giving him the chance to grow up healthy and strong. Read Jordan’s full story here: https://www.sjhfoundation.org/hes-all-heart-jordan-palmer/

Meet Zedrick, a tiny warrior with a mighty heart. ❤️

Before he was even born, Zedrick was diagnosed with multiple heart defects. From 19 weeks of pregnancy through delivery, the fetal and perinatal cardiology team at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital walked alongside his mom and Zedrick monitoring both of them every step of the way.

Just two days after birth, Zedrick underwent open-heart surgery at the Patel Children’s Heart Institute. Now, he’s healing in our Pediatric Cardiac ICU, surrounded by a team committed to giving him the strongest start possible.

This Heart Month, Zedrick reminds us what courage looks like, what hope feels like, and why our team pours everything into caring for families like his.

When the Kropik family faced the unimaginable after a devastating car accident left two daughters hospitalized, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House became a lifeline. While Charlotte received critical care in the PICU and later inpatient rehabilitation, her mom, Vivian, found comfort just steps away in a place designed for rest, reassurance and support.

Located on the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital campus, the Ronald McDonald House offers families a quiet, welcoming space to recharge, complete with private bedrooms, meals, wellness spaces and compassionate staff who understand the weight of long hospital stays. For families traveling far from home, it’s more than a place to stay, it’s a place to exhale, regroup and remain close to the ones they love.

“Knowing that my mom was near me felt so good. I feel safer having her close,” Charlotte shared.

February is Heart Month, raising awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention. ❤️

Regularly monitoring your blood pressure is a simple way to support your heart health. With guidance from your healthcare team, knowing your numbers can help reduce your risk for heart disease and stroke.

You can check your blood pressure at a doctor’s office, at home, or for free at Wellness Stations located in Publix Super Markets and many BayCare locations.

Pictured here are team members from St. Joseph's Hospital - North and St. Joseph's Hospital-South using Wellness Stations in the hospital lobbies, available to visitors, team members and medical staff for quick self-checks.

Meet the Foundation Team: Julie Perrelli

A native Floridian born in Clearwater, Julie joined St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation in April 2024 and quickly became an integral part of our team as Assistant Vice President of Events & Corporate Partnerships.

When asked what inspired her to join the Foundation, Julie shared: “When I started learning about the St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation and the incredible donors who support it, I knew I wanted to be part of something that makes such a meaningful impact through philanthropy.”

Some of Julie’s most memorable moments have come from meeting patients and their families, especially the pediatric patients. Their bravery, resilience, and the deep bonds they form with their care teams continue to inspire her, and she’s deeply moved by their willingness to share their stories to help others.

Outside of work, Julie is dreaming of a trip to Greece, with hopes of visiting Crete, where her family is from. We’re so grateful to have Julie’s passion and heart on our Foundation team!

When Yana El Shaeir went into labor at just 29 weeks, her first pregnancy took an unexpected turn. Her daughter Vivian arrived far too early and spent two long months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital. While Vivian was receiving the lifesaving care she needed, Yana was recovering from a C-section and facing one of the hardest realities for any parent, not being able to be with her baby every step of the way.

Through the AngelEye NICU Camera System, Yana was able to see Vivian anytime, from anywhere. She could receive real-time updates from the care team and even get sweet messages that brought comfort during long nights away from the hospital. That connection gave Yana peace of mind, reduced her anxiety, and helped her focus on healing.

Stories like Vivian's show how donor-supported technology and compassionate care help families stay connected during the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
