🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of PENS! 💜

This April marks a very special milestone for Pediatric Epilepsy & Neurology Specialists as we celebrate 25 years of serving the Tampa Bay community.

What began with a vision from our founder and Medical Director, Dr. José A. Ferreira, has grown into a dedicated team of physicians, nurse practitioners, technologists, researchers, and staff all working toward one mission — providing the highest level of care for children with neurological conditions.

Over the past 25 years, thousands of families have trusted us with their care. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and to support children and families navigating complex neurological conditions.

This milestone would not be possible without the hard work of our amazing team, the trust of our patients and families, and the leadership and vision of Dr. Ferreira.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the PENS journey over the past 25 years. We look forward to continuing this mission for many years to come.

Today we recognize and celebrate the incredible physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for children and families in our community. At Pediatric Epilepsy & Neurology Specialists, we are proud to work alongside a group of doctors whose compassion, knowledge, and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients every day.

Dr. Jose A. Ferreira – Founder and Medical Director of PENS. For decades, Dr. Ferreira has been a leader in pediatric neurology and epilepsy care in the Tampa Bay area. His work in clinical research has helped bring new treatments to patients around the world, and his dedication to teaching and mentoring continues to shape the next generation of providers.

Dr. Carmen Ferreira – A trusted and compassionate pediatric neurologist who has been caring for families at PENS for many years. Known for her expertise in conditions such as ADHD, headaches, and autism, Dr. Carmen is deeply committed to helping children reach their full potential while supporting their families every step of the way.

Dr. Lisa Calvo – A board-certified pediatric neurologist who brings a strong passion for advancing pediatric neurological care. Her focus on epilepsy and neurological disorders, along with her dedication to patient education and quality improvement, makes her an incredible asset to our patients and our team.

Dr. Rubens Garcia – A thoughtful and compassionate physician who approaches every patient with care and respect. With training in pediatric neurology at Duke University, Dr. Garcia is committed to helping families navigate complex neurological conditions with clarity, collaboration, and evidence-based care.

Dr. Michael Enriquez – A board-certified pediatric neurologist with expertise across a wide range of neurological conditions including epilepsy, neurogenetics, and stroke. Known for his dedication to clinical excellence and education, Dr. Enriquez brings incredible knowledge and compassion to every patient encounter.
