The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) is the voice of the auto mobility industry. Founded in 1989, we are a non-profit trade association representing more than 500 members across the United States and Canada, including dealers, manufacturers, and mobility professionals dedicated to making safe, reliable transportation accessible for all. As the certifying body for the nationally recognized Quality Assurance Program (QAP) accreditation, NMEDA sets the standard for safety, compliance, and quality in vehicle modifications. Every member adheres to strict federal and Canadian safety standards, along with NMEDA’s own Guidelines, ensuring the highest level of protection and reliability for consumers. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we support our members, connect industry partners, and work to empower independence for individuals with disabilities. Our mission is simple: to advance excellence in auto mobility so everyone has access to the freedom of safe, reliable transportation.

💙 Last week we had an incredible time at the 2025 PVA Healthcare Summit & Expo! From showcasing an accessible vehicle on the expo floor to creating a strong collective presence with our members Superior Van and Mobility, BraunAbility, Vantage Mobility, Harmar, & Adapt Solutions, we highlighted the products and services available to support veterans’ independence.

Imagine traveling through an airport without needing assistance. A month ago, Morgan State University showcased an autonomous wheelchair at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) that uses smartphone commands, cameras, and sensors to help passengers move independently through the terminal.

This breakthrough shows how technology is opening new doors for accessibility and making travel more inclusive for everyone. 💙✈️♿

We had a great time at the ADED: The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists Annual Conference! 🎉

NMEDA was proud to join driver rehabilitation partners in the expo hall and on stage. Our panel, “Why Professional, Industry, and Regulatory Standards Matter,” featured Amy Lane (Director of Education, Training & Conference) and Chuck Hardy (Director of Quality & Compliance) alongside Cassy Churchill (), Petra McCarney (Therapeutic Mobility Services), and Ron Mohr (Clock Mobility). Together, we explored key federal standards and guidelines, showing why they are more than boxes to check. With real-world examples and audience Q&A, it was an engaging discussion on communication, partnerships, and safer outcomes for the clients we all serve.
