Years of heavy drinking can lead to a lot very scary physical side effects, including chronic diseases, major organ damage and failure, and increased risk of cancer and heart disease. It can end in death - approximately 178,000 deaths each year - that’s 488 per day, or about 20 people per hour! - in the U.S. can be attributed to excessive drinking, which shortens the those lives by an average of 24 years. If you think you might have a problem with alcohol, get help. Talk to your doctor, therapist, or an addiction specialist.
