Feeling overwhelmed today? You’re not alone — anxiety often shows up in our relationships and everyday patterns. I’m Jessica Curran, a licensed MFT, and I want to share three quick, clinician-vetted practices you can try in Tampa or wherever you are. Try one now and notice what shifts.

1) Grounding: Name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste. This anchors you in the present and interrupts worry loops that often involve others.

2) Paced breathing: Breathe in for 4, hold 1, breathe out for 6. Repeat 5 times. Slowing your breath calms your nervous system and helps you respond more clearly in conversations.

3) Brief cognitive reframe: When a thought says “I’ll fail,” ask, “What’s another explanation?” or “What would I tell a friend?” Small shifts change relationship patterns and reduce escalation.

I offer virtual and in-person sessions in Tampa and Tampa Bay if you want to explore how these patterns show up in your life or partnership. No pressure to book — notice what felt helpful and share one small insight below. Link: https://wix.to/FbrOeEf

One small shift changed everything for a couple I worked with: when they learned to name the pattern instead of blaming each other, the anger cooled and real listening began. Have you tried naming the cycle in your relationship? Try these tonight: 1) Pause and label the pattern. 2) Ask, “What am I feeling?” before reacting. 3) Invite curiosity, not accusation. I bring a systemic lens to sessions—seeing the whole helps you move forward. Read more and book in Tampa: https://wix.to/NwbkvW1 💬🌿 . Schedule a session to explore this together.

Wondering whether systemic (relational) therapy or individual talk therapy is the right step for your relationship? I’ll help you sort it out. 💬❤️

If anxiety or personal trauma is the main issue, individual therapy can give you the tools to cope. When conflict patterns, communication breakdowns, or ripple effects from one person’s struggles impact the whole relationship, systemic work often brings the change you’re seeking. I use real scenarios to show when each approach is most effective.

I offer virtual and in-person sessions for Tampa and Tampa Bay, FL. Read more on my blog to learn which path fits your situation—and get practical next steps.

Feeling like small tensions are quietly growing? Try this quick weekend self-check for couples: 1) What did I avoid saying this week? — Share one thing and listen. 2) When did I feel disconnected? — Name the moment and your need. 3) What triggered a strong reaction? — Notice the pattern, not the blame. 4) What do I wish my partner understood about me? — Offer one concrete example. 5) What’s one small step we can take together this week? — Agree on a tiny experiment. Use these answers as conversation starters or jot them down before talking. These prompts map directly to goals I support in therapy: improving communication, reducing reactivity, uncovering patterns, and building practical connection skills. I offer flexible sessions (in-person and telehealth) for Tampa, Tampa Bay and surrounding areas to help you turn those insights into lasting change. Ready to try this together? Visit https://wix.to/Syz7soy for scheduling and resources. 🧡

Are your anxiety symptoms tied to relationship patterns or family dynamics? I can help you figure out when relational/systemic therapy offers something different from individual CBT. Relational therapy looks at how partners, family roles, and communication keep anxiety going, while CBT focuses on thoughts and behaviors you experience alone. Together they can be powerful: I often combine approaches when your relationships shape symptoms. I see clients in-person in Tampa and offer virtual sessions across Florida and South Carolina.
