This client came to us with chronic neck and TMJ pain. Using her innovative manual therapy approach, the Martin Method of Myofascial Release (M3FR), Sujata identified that lasting relief required more than just treating the neck.
By addressing the front of the ribcage, upper back, and mid-back alongside the neck and jaw, she created space, improved mobility, and reduced pain at the source.

🌟 Our bodies move in 3 main planes: front to back, side to side, and rotation. But when we're at a desk all day, we often forget to move in all of them! 🪑💻
Take a quick break to move in each direction. Notice which movement feels easier or more limited—your body is sending you signals on what it needs more of! 🙆♀️🙆♂️
No ball? No problem! You can still do this sitting in a rolling chair or standing. Let's keep our bodies moving! 💪✨

Feeling a pinch in the front of your hip when you squat, lift, or bend? 🤔
It could be a sign of hip impingement or your hip sitting too far forward in the joint. 💥
In this video, Dr. Jacquelyn is sharing two simple ways you can start addressing that discomfort at home — using joint distraction and mobility work to create space and relief. 🏠🧘♂️✨
Your hips deserve to move freely and pain-free! 🙌

🌸 Top 3 Tips for Managing Labor Pain 🌸
When it comes to labor, feeling prepared can make all the difference. Whether it’s your first or your fifth, these are game-changers:
1️⃣ Take a childbirth education class—outside the hospital if you can. Independent classes tend to offer a more empowering approach, rather than educating on hospital guidelines. You want to know all of your options, and the best questions to ask your birth providers! 💪🏽
2️⃣ Positive birth affirmations. Your mind is powerful. Rewire the narrative and remind yourself: My body was made for this. Find an affirmation or two that really resonates in your body; something that you can come back to in the moments during labor that you need that extra strength. 🧠✨
3️⃣ Prep your pelvis! Seeing a pelvic floor therapist can teach you how to strengthen, relax, and control those deep core muscles for a smoother labor and recovery. A good rule of thumb is to focus on strengthening your pelvic floor in the first two trimesters, and relaxing the pelvic floor in the 3rd trimester, however no two pelvic floors are the same, and an individualized program makes all the difference! 🌀👶🏽
You’re stronger and more capable than you know—birth is your power. 💥

✨ Taking a moment to tune in ✨
Today’s focus: self-myofascial release + lymphatic massage for the abdomen.
Place one or two fingers in the belly button, with the other hand on top for extra support. Imagine there is a wheel on the abdomen with spokes intersecting at the belly button. Using the belly button as an anchor, pull the fascia in the belly button in each direction of the spokes and hold for 1-2 minutes. You’ll notice the fascia softens, and you may be able to pull more as time passes.
We recommend treating yourself to this simple self-care technique 3-5 times a week. Feel free to use castor oil or any favorite body oil for extra nourishment and anti-inflammatory benefits.
It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about supporting digestion, reducing bloating, and reconnecting with the core. Gentle pressure, intentional breath, and a little love for the fascia goes a long way. 💆♀️🌀💫

Hello World!
I'm Sujata Martin, MS OTR/L, a Pelvic Floor Occupational Therapist serving Buffalo and Western New York, USA.
I'm passionate about helping women be their best selves during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period! Through Mother Nurture WNY, I enable women to proactively give their core and pelvic floor the extra TLC it needs to minimize the risk of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction associated with pregnancy & postpartum. Being a past graduate-level research assistant, I can't help but pore over research studies and other scientific publications about pregnancy, the pelvic floor & birth, and sharing this information with the women I work with.
Besides preventative pelvic health services, I provide rehab for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, including both internal & external treatment techniques. The intimate nature of Pelvic Floor conditions are best addressed in the sanctuary of one's home, which is why I travel to your home for personalized one-on-one treatment sessions.
I'm also a lover of Chai, binge watching Netflix on the couch and spending time exploring Western NY with my family. I'd love to make the birthing year happier and more comfortable for you!
